Hottur produced one of the standout road performances of the early Iceland Basketball Premier League season, defeating Stjarnan 103-98 on October 17, 2026. In a high-scoring contest that featured 201 combined points, Hottur’s shot-making and transition offense proved too much for Stjarnan, who fought back repeatedly but could not complete the comeback.

Match Overview

Stjarnan came into the game expecting to use their home floor and deep rotation to wear down Hottur, but the visitors set the tone early with aggressive perimeter defense and quick outlet passes. Hottur led 52-49 at halftime and maintained a narrow edge through three quarters. Stjarnan briefly took control in the third, only for Hottur to answer with a decisive fourth-quarter surge.

Quarter-by-Quarter

• First quarter: Stjarnan 25, Hottur 27
• Second quarter: Stjarnan 24, Hottur 25
• Third quarter: Stjarnan 26, Hottur 24
• Fourth quarter: Stjarnan 23, Hottur 27

Key Moments

The game turned in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter. Hottur opened the period with a 10-3 run, capped by a corner three and a fast-break dunk, pushing their lead to eight. Stjarnan responded with a 7-0 burst of their own to cut the gap to one, but Hottur’s guards consistently broke the pressure and either scored or drew fouls. In the final minute, Hottur converted four straight free throws to close out the win.

Standout Performances

Hottur’s backcourt was electric. Their starting guard poured in 27 points and dished out seven assists, while the shooting guard added 22 points on 5-of-9 shooting from three-point range. The frontcourt also contributed with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. For Stjarnan, the leading scorer finished with 30 points, and their center added 18 points and 10 rebounds, but the team struggled to contain Hottur’s dribble penetration in the second half.

What It Means

The result gives Hottur a valuable road win and signals that they can compete with the Premier League’s established contenders. Stjarnan, meanwhile, will review their defensive rotations and rebounding after allowing over 100 points at home. In a league where home-court advantage is often significant, this head-to-head result could matter when the standings tighten later in the season.
