U.M.F. Tindastoll earned a hard-fought 78-71 road victory over Sindri in the Iceland Basketball Premier League on October 24, 2026, using a composed fourth quarter and a strong defensive effort to secure the win. In a game defined by physical half-court basketball, Tindastoll’s late execution made the difference.

Game overview

The contest was far less open than many games in the Icelandic top flight. Both teams prioritized defensive positioning and limited easy transition chances. Tindastoll led 21-18 after the first quarter and took a 39-34 advantage into halftime. Sindri stayed close with timely perimeter shooting and a determined effort on the offensive glass, but the visitors maintained a narrow edge for much of the night.

The quarter scores were 18-21, 16-18, 19-17, and 18-22 in Tindastoll’s favor. The final period proved decisive, as Tindastoll tightened its defense and converted key possessions down the stretch.

How Tindastoll won it

Tindastoll controlled the game with defense and rebounding. The visitors limited Sindri’s second-chance points in the second half and forced contested shots late in the shot clock. On offense, Tindastoll worked through its interior players and used patient ball movement to create open looks.

The key stretch came in the fourth quarter, when Tindastoll put together a decisive run to turn a tight game into a seven-point win. Sindri had chances to respond, but turnovers and missed free throws in the closing minutes proved costly.

Key moments

• Tindastoll built an early lead behind strong half-court defense and efficient interior scoring.
• Sindri fought back in the third quarter, using perimeter shooting to keep the game within one possession.
• A late fourth-quarter run from Tindastoll created separation and forced Sindri to play catch-up.
• Tindastoll sealed the result with defensive stops and composed possessions in the final two minutes.

Tactical story

This was a game of adjustments. Sindri tried to speed up the tempo, but Tindastoll consistently slowed the pace and made the home side execute in the half court. Tindastoll’s help defense was effective, particularly against dribble penetration, and the visitors did a better job of finishing defensive possessions with rebounds.

Sindri’s effort was strong, but the team’s outside shooting cooled in the second half. Tindastoll’s ability to defend without fouling also mattered, as Sindri struggled to generate easy points at the line.

Standout performers

Tindastoll’s frontcourt played a central role, controlling the glass and scoring important baskets in traffic. The backcourt managed the game well, limiting turnovers and making timely shots. Sindri’s guards kept the team competitive with aggressive drives and perimeter shooting, but the home side lacked the same late-game execution.

Season impact

The win gives Tindastoll a valuable road result and reinforces its credentials as a team capable of winning low-scoring, physical games. For Sindri, the loss is a reminder that closing possessions and late-game decision-making will be critical in the race for playoff positioning. Tindastoll’s 78-71 victory may not have been flashy, but it was the kind of road performance that matters in the standings.
