Alftanes delivered one of the most emphatic offensive performances of the early Iceland Basketball Premier League season on October 24, 2026, defeating Keflavik 130-110 in a fast-paced, high-scoring contest. The home side reached the 130-point mark through relentless transition play, deep three-point shooting, and a balanced attack that kept Keflavik on the back foot from the opening tip.

Game overview

Alftanes set the tone immediately, pushing the tempo and attacking before Keflavik’s defense could settle. The home team led 32-24 after the first quarter and stretched the advantage to 66-53 by halftime. Keflavik remained competitive in spurts, but every time the visitors threatened to close the gap, Alftanes answered with a quick scoring run.

The quarter-by-quarter scoring reflected Alftanes’ control: 32-24, 34-29, 30-28, and 34-29. Reaching 130 points is a notable statement in the Icelandic top flight, where defensive intensity and half-court execution usually keep scores more contained.

How Alftanes built the win

Alftanes won the game with pace and spacing. The guards advanced the ball quickly after makes and misses, forcing Keflavik into scramble situations. When the defense collapsed, Alftanes found open shooters on the perimeter; when Keflavik closed out hard, the home side attacked the rim or created second-chance opportunities through offensive rebounding.

The balance was particularly impressive. Alftanes did not rely on a single dominant scorer for long stretches. Instead, the offense flowed through multiple ball-handlers, with the bench providing energy and scoring in transition. That depth wore Keflavik down in the second half.

Key moments

• Alftanes opened with an aggressive first-quarter surge, building an early cushion behind transition baskets and perimeter shooting.
• A second-quarter run pushed the lead into double digits, giving the home side a 13-point halftime advantage.
• Keflavik briefly cut into the deficit in the third quarter, but Alftanes responded with a decisive offensive burst to restore control.
• In the fourth, Alftanes’ bench and backcourt combined to close the game, turning a competitive scoreline into a 20-point margin.

Tactical story

Keflavik’s defense struggled with Alftanes’ pace. The visitors were often a step slow in rotation, and Alftanes exploited those gaps with quick ball movement. Keflavik also found itself in foul trouble, which softened its interior defense and allowed Alftanes to generate free points at the line.

Offensively, Keflavik had productive stretches and reached 110 points, but the visitors could not string together enough defensive stops. Alftanes’ ability to score in bunches made every Keflavik run feel temporary.

Standout performers

Alftanes’ backcourt dictated the rhythm, combining for efficient scoring and a high number of assists. The frontcourt contributed on the glass and finished well around the rim, while the bench added crucial energy in the second and fourth quarters. For Keflavik, the perimeter scorers kept the team within reach for long periods, but the defensive end proved costly.

Season impact

The result gives Alftanes a confidence-boosting win and a strong scoring statement in the Iceland Basketball Premier League standings. For Keflavik, the loss highlights the need for sharper transition defense and better foul discipline. Alftanes’ 130-point night will be remembered as one of the standout offensive displays of the 2026-27 campaign.
