The result gives Quetzaltenango Maxi Women a valuable win in the league standings and adds another positive entry to their head-to-head record against Sacatepequez Maxi Women. Match overview

Sacatepequez Maxi Women responded well in the second period, tightening their defense and winning some second-chance opportunities, but the hosts still went into halftime with a narrow advantage. By the final period, the home side had established full control. Quetzaltenango closed out the game with a patient fourth quarter, protecting the paint and using the clock intelligently. The 65-48 scoreline was a fair reflection of their superior shooting efficiency and their ability to limit Sacatepequez’s clean looks from the perimeter.

How the game was won

The key to Quetzaltenango’s victory was balance. They scored inside through their frontcourt, attacked the offensive glass and received steady contributions from their guards in transition. Defensively, they collapsed well on drives and forced Sacatepequez into contested shots. That pressure helped Quetzaltenango build a double-digit cushion in the second half and kept the visitors from mounting a serious comeback.

Sacatepequez Maxi Women had their moments, particularly in the second quarter, but they were unable to sustain their scoring rhythm. A difficult third quarter left them chasing the game, and Quetzaltenango’s control of the rebound battle made it hard for the visitors to close the gap.

Standout factors and standings impact

Quetzaltenango’s frontcourt presence and guard play stood out, with the team sharing the scoring load rather than relying on one dominant option. That depth proved important when the game tightened in the first half. For Sacatepequez, the performance showed flashes of competitiveness, but the team will need more consistent offense to convert close first halves into positive results.

The win strengthens Quetzaltenango Maxi Women’s position in the Guatemala Maxi Fem Women standings and gives them momentum for their next fixtures. Sacatepequez Maxi Women, meanwhile, will look to regroup and improve their execution on the road. In a league where home advantage can shape the table, this was a result Quetzaltenango will value highly.
