Match Overview: Pace, Spacing and Shot-Making

Both teams came out intent on playing fast. Koukaki pushed the ball after every missed shot, hunting early offense before Politia's half-court defense could set, and the approach paid off with a string of open corner threes in the opening quarter. Politia answered with dribble penetration and mid-range pull-ups, keeping the game close despite Koukaki's edge in tempo.

The second half turned into a chess match. Politia adjusted by switching screens and daring Koukaki's big men to score over length, which briefly slowed the home offense. Koukaki responded by going inside-out, drawing help defenders and kicking to shooters. The fourth quarter featured four lead changes before Koukaki's guards took over.

Key Moments

The decisive sequence came with just under three minutes remaining. Trailing 71-70, Koukaki forced a turnover at midcourt, converted a fast-break layup, and then hit a step-back three on the next possession to push the lead to six. Politia had chances to respond but missed two open looks from beyond the arc and turned the ball over on an offensive foul, effectively ending their comeback.

Tactical Story: Bench Contributions and Rebounding

Koukaki's bench outscored Politia's reserves by a meaningful margin, providing energy in the second quarter and maintaining defensive intensity when the starters rested. On the glass, Koukaki held a slight edge, and those extra possessions proved critical in a game decided by six points.

Politia will look back at their three-point shooting as the main frustration — a solid night from inside the arc was undermined by a cold performance from deep, particularly in the fourth quarter when open looks simply would not fall.

Standout Performers

Koukaki's shooting guard was the game's leading scorer, mixing pull-up jumpers with aggressive drives to the rim. Their power forward added a double-double, controlling the defensive boards and finishing pick-and-roll lobs. For Politia, the point guard orchestrated well and kept his team in the game with timely shot-making, while the young wing showed promise off the bench.

What It Means in the Greece A2 Table

The win keeps Pao Koukaki in the upper half of the Greece A2 standings and reinforces their home-court advantage. AO Politia leave with a competitive loss but will take encouragement from pushing a strong side to the wire on the road. In a division where playoff spots are often decided by a game or two, these head-to-head results carry real weight.
