OFI Irakleio powered past Asp Ktisifon 80-71 in a Greece A2 matchup, delivering one of their more complete offensive performances of the campaign. The hosts controlled the game for long stretches, built a double-digit cushion in the second half, and then held off every attempt at a comeback to secure an important home victory.

Match Overview

OFI Irakleio started brightly, moving the ball with purpose and finding scoring contributions from across the roster. Asp Ktisifon stayed within touching distance early, leaning on their half-court execution and some efficient shooting from mid-range, but they were always chasing the game after the opening exchanges.

The second quarter saw OFI begin to assert themselves on the defensive end, forcing contested shots and turning stops into quick offense. By halftime, the home side had established a working lead — one they would never fully surrender.

Key Moments

• Second-quarter separation: A sustained run before the break pushed OFI Irakleio into a lead they would protect for the rest of the night.
• Third-quarter three-pointers: Back-to-back triples early in the second half stretched the advantage into double digits.
• Rebounding dominance: OFI's work on the offensive glass created extra possessions at critical moments, sapping the visitors' momentum.
• Closing execution: With Asp Ktisifon cutting the deficit in the fourth, OFI responded with composed half-court possessions and made free throws.

Tactical Story

This was a game decided by offensive balance. OFI Irakleio did not rely on a single scorer, instead spreading the workload across their guards and forwards and keeping Asp Ktisifon's defense guessing. Their ball movement was crisp, and they consistently found the extra pass, which opened up driving lanes and open perimeter looks.

Asp Ktisifon, by contrast, were often forced into isolation basketball. When their jump shots fell, they looked dangerous, and they managed to keep the scoreboard ticking through individual efforts. But their offense lacked the same rhythm in the half-court, and a stretch of empty possessions in the third quarter gave OFI the breathing room they needed. Defensively, the visitors struggled to contain dribble penetration, which repeatedly collapsed their shape and left shooters open on the perimeter.

Standout Performances

OFI Irakleio's guards dictated the pace of the game, combining scoring with steady playmaking, while their frontcourt provided the physical presence on the boards that tipped the rebounding battle. Asp Ktisifon's leading scorers kept their team competitive into the fourth quarter and showed real resilience, but they lacked the supporting production needed to complete the comeback.

Season Impact

An 80-71 home win is a valuable currency in Greece A2, and this result strengthens OFI Irakleio's position as the season progresses. It also underlines their ability to close out games when leading — a trait that separates the contenders from the rest in a long, demanding campaign.

Asp Ktisifon depart with a nine-point defeat that will sting, but their performance offered positives: they competed for four quarters and generated enough offense to stay within range. The challenge now is consistency. For OFI, the focus shifts to carrying this level of ball movement and defensive intensity on the road, where the margins in this division are always tighter.
