AE Psyhiko Athens secured an important 86-79 road win over Kronos Agiou Dimitriou in Greece A2 on October 23, 2026, strengthening their promotion push. The victory improved Psyhiko to 4-1, while Kronos fell to 2-3 after a hard-fought contest that was closer than the final score suggests.

Match overview

Psyhiko set the tone with a strong second quarter, turning a tight first period into a 46-38 halftime lead. Kronos fought back in the third, cutting the deficit to two, but Psyhiko’s composure in the final minutes sealed the win. Quarter scores were 22-18, 24-20, 18-21 and 22-20 in favor of the visitors.

The game featured 10 lead changes and six ties, but Psyhiko never trailed after the midway point of the second quarter. Their balanced scoring and timely defensive stops proved decisive down the stretch.

Key moments

The turning point came late in the second quarter. With Psyhiko leading 36-34, they closed the half on a 10-4 run, capped by a Nikos Pappas three-pointer at the buzzer. That momentum carried into the third quarter, where Psyhiko briefly pushed the lead to 12. Kronos responded with a furious rally, cutting the game to 68-66 early in the fourth.

With 2:15 remaining and Psyhiko leading 78-75, Giorgos Dimitriou grabbed a crucial offensive rebound and converted a put-back while drawing a foul. His three-point play pushed the lead to six, and Kronos never got closer than four the rest of the way.

Tactical story

Psyhiko’s 2-3 zone defense gave Kronos problems all evening. The hosts struggled to find rhythm from the perimeter, shooting just 8-of-25 from three-point range, and committed 16 turnovers. Psyhiko’s guards did an excellent job of closing out on shooters and forcing contested mid-range attempts.

Offensively, Psyhiko relied on ball movement and timely three-point shooting. They finished 11-of-26 from beyond the arc and assisted on 19 of their 30 field goals. Kronos, by contrast, leaned heavily on isolation plays and struggled to generate clean looks against the zone.

Standout players

• Nikos Pappas (Psyhiko): 24 points, 6 assists and 3 steals, controlling the game.
• Giorgos Dimitriou (Psyhiko): 18 points and 11 rebounds, including the decisive three-point play.
• Kostas Alexiou (Psyhiko): 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three.
• Dimitris Kostas (Kronos): 22 points and 7 rebounds, carrying the offense.
• Panagiotis Rallis (Kronos): 16 points and 5 assists.
• Vasilis Theodorou (Kronos): 12 points and 8 rebounds.

Season impact

AE Psyhiko Athens’ strong start has them in the upper tier of the Greece A2 standings and firmly in the promotion conversation. Their defensive discipline and balanced attack have been key to their early success. Kronos Agiou Dimitriou, meanwhile, remains a competitive side but has struggled to close out tight games. With the season still young, both teams will have opportunities to climb the table, but Psyhiko’s head-to-head advantage and current form make them a team to watch in the race for promotion.
