How the Game Unfolded

Ermis Agias started with good energy and took an 18-16 lead after the first quarter. The second quarter was more of the same: both teams traded baskets, but Ermis managed a small edge to go into halftime ahead 38-34. Their half-court offense was patient, and they did a good job of getting to the rim against Peiramatiko’s interior defense.

Peiramatiko came out of the break with a purpose. A 22-point third quarter allowed them to cut the deficit to just one point, 57-56, heading into the final period. Their guards began to find success off dribble penetration, and a couple of timely three-pointers brought the visitors back into the contest.

The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth affair. Peiramatiko briefly tied the game in the final minutes, but Ermis responded with a decisive 8-4 run. Free throws and a critical stop on the defensive end sealed the win for the home side.

Key Moments

The turning point came with under two minutes remaining. After Peiramatiko had drawn level, Ermis forced a turnover and converted it into a fast-break layup. On the next possession, their shooting guard knocked down a contested mid-range jumper to push the lead to four. Peiramatiko had one last chance to tie, but a well-defended three-point attempt rimmed out.

Tactical Story

Ermis Agias won this game at the free-throw line and on the boards. They attempted more free throws and converted at a higher percentage, while also limiting Peiramatiko’s second-chance opportunities. Defensively, Ermis mixed man-to-man and zone looks, which disrupted the visitors’ rhythm in the closing minutes.

Peiramatiko Machites played well enough to win for long stretches, but their turnovers in key moments hurt them. They also struggled to contain Ermis’ pick-and-roll attack, especially when the big men rolled hard to the basket. In a game decided by four points, those small details made the difference.

Standout Performances

Ermis Agias received a team-high 19 points from its shooting guard, who also added four rebounds and three assists. Their power forward contributed 16 points and eight rebounds, while the center posted a solid 12-point, 10-rebound double-double. Peiramatiko’s leading scorer finished with 18 points, but he was forced into several tough shots late in the game.

What the Result Means

This victory gives Ermis Agias an important early-season boost in the Greece A2 standings. It also shows they can execute in close games, which is crucial in a competitive league. Peiramatiko Machites will take positives from their comeback, but they will need to clean up their late-game execution to turn these narrow losses into wins.
