Amyntas edged AS Koroivos Amaliadas 79-78 in a thrilling Greece A2 basketball game on 21 October 2026, winning on a late free throw after a tense final possession. The one-point result gave Amyntas a home win and left Koroivos with a narrow defeat in a matchup that could have gone either way.

Match overview

Both teams traded baskets throughout the first half, with Amyntas doing damage inside and Koroivos answering from the perimeter. Neither side led by more than seven points, and the game remained within one possession for much of the second half. The fourth quarter featured multiple lead changes.

Key moments

With the score tied in the final 30 seconds, Amyntas forced a contested shot and secured the rebound. After a timeout, they worked the ball inside and drew a foul with 4.2 seconds remaining. Dimitris Vlachos made the first free throw and missed the second, but Koroivos's desperation heave at the buzzer fell short. The defensive stop and free-throw execution proved decisive.

Standout players

Dimitris Vlachos finished with 21 points and six assists for Amyntas, while Panagiotis Sideris added 16 points and 11 rebounds. Koroivos were led by Giannis Theodorou with 22 points and Manolis Vrettos with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Tactical story

Amyntas's offensive rebounding kept them in the game, especially in the third quarter when Koroivos threatened to pull away. Koroivos's guards created good looks, but Amyntas's late defensive adjustments forced tougher shots. The game was decided by small margins: free throws, a key rebound, and a final possession that Amyntas defended with discipline.

Season impact

The win is a confidence boost for Amyntas and adds a valuable home result to their Greece A2 campaign. Koroivos will feel they let a winnable game slip, but their performance showed they can compete in tight road games. The 79-78 scoreline will be remembered as one of the early season's closest finishes.
