Key moments

The game's turning point came late in the first quarter. With AO Ag leading 15-12, Dimitris Georgiou scored eight straight points in a 90-second span, including two three-pointers and a transition dunk. That burst pushed the lead to 23-12 and forced AE Pentelis into catch-up mode. The hosts trimmed the deficit to 32-28 midway through the second quarter, but AO Ag responded with a 7-0 run before halftime. In the third, Panagiotis Nikolaidis hit back-to-back threes to stretch the lead to 50-38, effectively putting the game out of reach.

Tactical story

AO Ag's offense was built on ball movement and dribble penetration. They repeatedly attacked AE Pentelis' closeouts, kicking out for open threes or dumping the ball to cutters. Defensively, AO Ag used a 1-3-1 zone in the second half that confused the hosts and generated easy transition baskets. AE Pentelis tried to counter with a smaller lineup, but they were outrebounded 38-29 and gave up 14 offensive boards. The hosts also shot only 5-of-22 from beyond the arc, while AO Ag knocked down 10 threes.

Standout players

Dimitris Georgiou led AO Ag with 24 points and 8 rebounds, dominating inside and out. Panagiotis Nikolaidis added 18 points and 7 assists, while Giannis Antoniou scored 12 points off the bench. For AE Pentelis, Kostas Dimitriou finished with 17 points, and Nikos Papadopoulos added 14, but the duo combined for 9 turnovers. No other AE Pentelis player reached double figures.

Season impact

The victory strengthens AO Ag's position in the Greece A2 standings and signals their intent to challenge for promotion. AE Pentelis, meanwhile, will need to address their perimeter defense and rebounding issues quickly. The result also gives AO Ag a head-to-head advantage in the early season race, which could matter when tiebreakers are applied later in the year.
