Coldstore BT delivered a commanding road performance on Saturday, defeating Tudu Magic 70-52 in a Ghana ABL basketball matchup at the Tudu Magic home court in Accra. The 18-point victory was built on a decisive second quarter and a balanced offensive attack that kept the home side at arm's length for most of the evening.

The result moves Coldstore BT into a stronger position in the Ghana ABL standings, while Tudu Magic are left to regroup after a tough shooting night in front of their own fans. Coldstore's defensive intensity and transition scoring proved to be the difference in a game that was closer than the final score suggested for long stretches.

Match Overview

From the opening tip, both teams traded baskets in a fast-paced first quarter. Tudu Magic looked sharp early, using dribble penetration to create open looks, but Coldstore BT answered with timely three-point shooting. By the end of the first period, the visitors held a narrow 18-14 lead.

The second quarter is where Coldstore BT took full control. Their full-court pressure forced a series of Tudu Magic turnovers, which they converted into easy fast-break points. A 21-11 run in the period pushed the Coldstore lead to 39-25 at halftime, and the home crowd grew quiet as the visitors' confidence grew.

Quarter-by-quarter scoring told the story of Coldstore's consistency:

• First Quarter: Tudu Magic 14 – Coldstore BT 18
• Second Quarter: Tudu Magic 11 – Coldstore BT 21
• Third Quarter: Tudu Magic 15 – Coldstore BT 14
• Fourth Quarter: Tudu Magic 12 – Coldstore BT 17
• Final Score: Tudu Magic 52 – Coldstore BT 70

First Half: Coldstore Take Control

Coldstore BT's game plan was clear from the start: pressure the ball handler, deny easy entry passes into the post, and push the pace at every opportunity. Tudu Magic struggled to settle into their half-court offense, often settling for contested jump shots late in the shot clock. Coldstore's guards did an excellent job of jumping passing lanes and turning defense into instant offense.

By halftime, Coldstore BT had built a 14-point cushion, and their bench was fully engaged. The visiting team's ball movement was crisp, with extra passes finding open shooters in the corners. Tudu Magic, meanwhile, were held to just 25 first-half points, their lowest scoring half of the young Ghana ABL season.

Second Half: Tudu Magic Fight But Fall Short

Coming out of the locker room, Tudu Magic showed more urgency. A 15-point third quarter, sparked by improved offensive rebounding and a couple of steals, cut the deficit to 12 heading into the final period. The home side's defensive energy picked up, and for a few minutes, it looked like a comeback might be on the cards.

However, Coldstore BT responded like a seasoned contender. A quick 8-2 run to start the fourth quarter pushed the lead back to 18 and effectively sealed the game. Tudu Magic continued to battle, but cold shooting from beyond the arc and some untimely turnovers prevented them from making a serious late run. Coldstore's poise in the closing minutes was the mark of a team that knows how to win on the road.

Standout Players

Several players stood out in this Ghana ABL clash. For Coldstore BT, guard Kwesi Adjei was the engine, finishing with a game-high 19 points, 7 assists, and 4 steals. His ability to break down the defense off the dribble created open looks for his teammates all night. Forward Abdul Rahman added a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, dominating the glass on both ends.

For Tudu Magic, Michael Osei was the brightest spot, scoring 16 points and grabbing 8 rebounds despite facing constant double-teams. Guard Joshua Tetteh chipped in 12 points, but the team as a whole shot just 35% from the field and 25% from three-point range. Those numbers were never going to be enough against a disciplined Coldstore side.

Tactical Story

Coldstore BT's victory was rooted in defense. They forced 18 Tudu Magic turnovers and scored 22 points off those mistakes. Their half-court trap in the second quarter was particularly effective, disrupting Tudu's rhythm and forcing rushed decisions. Offensively, Coldstore shared the ball well, recording 18 assists on 26 made field goals.

Tudu Magic, on the other hand, relied too heavily on isolation plays. When their jump shots were not falling, they struggled to generate easy baskets. Their interior defense also had trouble containing Rahman, who repeatedly sealed his defender for offensive rebounds and put-backs. It was a tough lesson for a team still searching for consistency in the Ghana ABL.
