Flammes Carolo Basket Women secured a 72-63 road win over Chartell Women in the Ligue Féminine de Basketball, using a controlled second half and a decisive closing run to pull away from a stubborn home side. The game was not settled until the final quarter, when Carolo’s defense and balanced scoring finally broke Chartell’s resistance.

Match overview

Chartell Women opened with energy and kept the game close through the first half, attacking the basket and making Flammes Carolo work for every shot. The visitors, however, stayed patient. Carolo moved the ball well, found open shooters and gradually imposed their half-court defense on the game.

The final score of 72-63 looks relatively comfortable, but the margin was built late. Chartell stayed within striking distance for much of the contest before Carolo’s execution in the fourth quarter made the difference.

The decisive run

The turning point came in the second half when Flammes Carolo Basket Women strung together consecutive defensive stops. Chartell’s offense became stuck on the perimeter, and Carolo turned those missed shots into transition opportunities. A few quick baskets forced Chartell to call timeout, but the momentum had already shifted.

Carolo’s ability to score inside and out made them difficult to guard. When Chartell collapsed on the paint, the visitors found open perimeter looks. When Chartell closed out hard, Carolo attacked the closeout and drew fouls. That two-way flexibility was the difference in the final quarter.

Defensive foundation

Flammes Carolo’s defense was the backbone of the win. They limited second-chance points, contested rebounds and made Chartell take tough shots late in the clock. The visitors also controlled the tempo after halftime, preventing Chartell from turning the game into a transition track meet.

• Rebounding control: Carolo reduced Chartell’s extra possessions in the second half.
• Half-court discipline: the visitors forced Chartell into contested jump shots.
• Balanced scoring: multiple players contributed in the decisive stretch.
• Late free throws: Carolo protected the lead at the line.

Chartell’s fight

Chartell Women deserve credit for making the game competitive. They matched Carolo’s intensity early, moved the ball well in spurts and found enough scoring to stay in contact. The home side’s problem was offensive consistency; too many possessions ended without a quality shot, especially when Carolo increased the pressure.

Chartell will look back at the third quarter as the period that got away. A handful of empty possessions and a few defensive breakdowns allowed Carolo to build the cushion that ultimately decided the game.

Standout performers

Carolo’s guards managed the game well, controlling tempo and making timely shots when Chartell threatened to rally. Their interior players did the dirty work on the boards and defended the rim without fouling unnecessarily. For Chartell, the effort was there, particularly on defense, but the home side lacked the same balance down the stretch.

LFB standings impact

This 72-63 win gives Flammes Carolo Basket Women an important road result in the Ligue Féminine de Basketball standings and evidence that their half-court game can travel. For Chartell Women, the defeat is a reminder that close games in the LFB are often decided by execution in the final ten minutes. Chartell will need to convert more of their defensive stops into points at the other end to turn competitive performances into wins.
