Basket Landes Edge Charnay 54-50 in Low-Scoring Battle

Basket Landes secured a hard-fought 54-50 road victory over Charnay Bourgogne Sud Women in France’s Ligue Féminine de Basketball on October 18, 2026. In a game defined by defense and half-court execution, Basket Landes made the decisive plays in the final minutes to leave with a four-point win.

Neither team found offensive rhythm for long stretches. Charnay’s physical defense kept the game close, while Basket Landes relied on their rebounding and composure to survive a tense finish. The result is a valuable one for Basket Landes, especially in a matchup where points were at a premium.

Match Overview

The opening quarter was a defensive struggle, with both teams missing contested shots and struggling to establish inside scoring. Charnay worked hard on the offensive glass but found it difficult to convert second-chance opportunities. Basket Landes were more patient in the half-court, using ball movement to create late-clock looks.

The game remained tight through the third quarter. Neither side led by a comfortable margin, and every possession felt important. In the fourth, Basket Landes tightened their defense and converted key free throws, while Charnay’s offense stalled at the worst possible moment.

Key Moments

• Basket Landes’ late defensive stops in the fourth quarter prevented Charnay from taking the lead.
• A pair of crucial offensive rebounds gave Basket Landes extra possessions during the closing stretch.
• Free-throw execution in the final minute helped the visitors protect their narrow advantage.

Tactical Story

This was a game won through discipline rather than offensive fireworks. Basket Landes focused on protecting the paint and forcing Charnay into difficult perimeter shots. Their defensive rotations were sharp, and they limited easy baskets in transition. Offensively, they leaned on patient possessions and smart shot selection, knowing that empty trips would be costly.

Charnay’s defense was equally impressive for long stretches. They contested shots and controlled portions of the glass, but their offense lacked fluidity. Missed free throws and turnovers in the final quarter proved decisive, allowing Basket Landes to edge ahead and hold on.

Standout Performers

Basket Landes’ frontcourt played a major role on the boards, securing important rebounds on both ends. Their guards handled pressure well and made timely decisions in the final minutes. Charnay’s defensive effort was led by their intensity on the perimeter and help-side rotations, but the team needed more consistent scoring support to complete the comeback.

Standings Impact

The 54-50 win gives Basket Landes an important road result in the Ligue Féminine de Basketball standings and highlights their ability to win ugly when shots are not falling. For Charnay Bourgogne Sud Women, the loss is a frustrating one because the defensive effort was good enough to compete. They will need to improve their late-game execution and free-throw shooting in upcoming games.
