Basket Landes defeated Bourges Basket Women 67-64 in a low-scoring Ligue Féminine de Basketball battle that was decided by defense, rebounding and late-game composure. Match overview

This was a game for basketball purists. Both teams prioritized defense, contested shots and controlled the tempo. Bourges Basket Women brought their usual structure and discipline, while Basket Landes used their home crowd and physical half-court defense to keep the visitors from finding an offensive rhythm.

The score stayed close throughout. Neither team led by a comfortable margin, and the fourth quarter became a possession-by-possession struggle. In that environment, Basket Landes’ ability to execute late and protect the ball proved decisive.

A defensive struggle

Bourges Basket Women are known for their organized defense and balanced attack, and they made Basket Landes work for every point. The hosts responded with aggressive help defense, active hands and a commitment to limiting second-chance opportunities. The game was often physical, with both teams forced to earn points at the free-throw line.

• Rebounding battle: Basket Landes controlled key defensive boards in the fourth quarter.
• Contested shots: both teams forced difficult looks late in the clock.
• Turnover management: Landes protected the ball better in the closing minutes.
• Free-throw execution: the hosts converted when Bourges was forced to foul.

Late-game execution

The decisive moments came in the final three minutes. With the score tight, Basket Landes ran patient offense, drew help defenders and found cutting players near the basket. On the other end, their defense forced Bourges into contested jump shots and limited clean looks from beyond the arc.

Bourges had chances to tie or take the lead, but Basket Landes’ rebounding and composure at the line held them off. The final 67-64 margin reflects how little separated the teams, but Landes made the bigger plays when the game was on the line.

Bourges’ response

Bourges Basket Women stayed in the game with their trademark discipline. They moved the ball patiently, attacked mismatches and kept the contest close even when their offense stalled for stretches. Their defense also created problems for Basket Landes, forcing several empty possessions in the second half.

Ultimately, Bourges could not find enough late scoring. A few missed shots and one or two costly turnovers gave Basket Landes the opening they needed. Against a team of Bourges’ quality, those small gaps are often enough to decide the result.

Standout performers

Basket Landes’ interior players were central to the win, controlling the glass and scoring important baskets in traffic. Their guards managed the tempo well and made smart decisions in the final quarter. Bourges received solid contributions across the rotation, but no single player was able to take over the closing stretch.

LFB standings impact

This 67-64 win is a significant result for Basket Landes in the Ligue Féminine de Basketball standings. Beating Bourges Basket Women always carries weight, and doing it through defense and late execution will give the hosts confidence for the rest of the season.
