Monaco Women booked their place in the next stage of the France Women's Basketball Cup with a commanding 75–50 victory over Tronche Meylan Women. A dominant first half effectively settled the tie, with the hosts racing out to a 19-point halftime lead before managing the game intelligently through the final two quarters.

Match Overview

Cup basketball often produces tight, nervy contests, but this one was decided early. Monaco came out with intensity on the defensive end, forced Tronche Meylan into difficult shots and turned defensive stops into quick points at the other end. The visitors struggled to find any offensive rhythm, and once Monaco's lead stretched into double digits midway through the opening quarter, the outcome rarely looked in doubt.

Quarter-by-Quarter Breakdown

• Q1: Monaco 22 – Tronche Meylan 12 — A fast start from the hosts, built on transition baskets and offensive rebounds.
• Q2: Monaco 19 – Tronche Meylan 10 — Monaco's defensive pressure held the visitors to just ten points and opened a 41–22 halftime lead.
• Q3: Monaco 18 – Tronche Meylan 14 — Tronche Meylan improved after the break, but Monaco matched every run.
• Q4: Monaco 16 – Tronche Meylan 14 — A controlled closing quarter as Monaco emptied the bench.

Key Moments

The defining passage came in the second quarter, when Monaco strung together a 13–2 run over roughly four minutes. Tronche Meylan's offense went cold, missing seven consecutive field-goal attempts while committing turnovers against Monaco's aggressive traps. By the time the visitors scored again, the deficit had ballooned past twenty and the game's complexion was set. Tronche Meylan showed better organization in the third quarter, but Monaco's answer was always swift, snuffing out any hint of a comeback.

Tactical Story

Monaco's coaching staff set up a compact, help-heavy defense that clogged the paint and forced Tronche Meylan into low-percentage perimeter shots. The rebounding battle was similarly one-sided, with Monaco's frontcourt controlling both backboards and generating second-chance opportunities. On offense, Monaco shared the ball beautifully, accumulating assists on the majority of their made field goals and repeatedly finding open shooters against a defense that was slow to rotate.

Standout Performers

Monaco's balanced attack was the story of the night, with multiple players contributing double-digit scoring and the bench adding meaningful minutes in the second half. Their starting guard controlled the tempo, while the interior players dominated the paint on both ends. For Tronche Meylan, there were encouraging individual flashes — particularly a more assertive third-quarter display — but the team's shooting woes and turnover count ultimately proved too costly in a knockout format.

What It Means

Knockout cup wins are about survival as much as style, and Monaco advance with their confidence intact after one of their most convincing defensive performances of the season. The margin also gives the coaching staff the luxury of resting key players and rotating the roster ahead of a busy league schedule. Tronche Meylan exit the competition knowing their first-half execution let them down, but they will take encouragement from a more competitive second half as they refocus on their domestic campaign.
