Val de Seine closed the game with a decisive late run to defeat Lyonso Basket 86-79 in France Nationale 1 play, turning a tense fourth-quarter battle into a seven-point home victory. The game was close for nearly 38 minutes, but Val de Seine’s execution on both ends in the final stretch proved the difference.

Match overview

Val de Seine and Lyonso Basket traded baskets throughout the first half, with neither team able to build a lasting lead. Lyonso’s guards attacked the paint effectively, while Val de Seine relied on ball movement and timely three-point shooting to stay level. The halftime score reflected the closeness of the contest, and the third quarter followed a similar pattern.

With the game tied entering the final five minutes, Val de Seine raised their defensive intensity. They forced two turnovers, converted at the other end, and then protected the lead with free throws. Lyonso had chances to respond but could not find a clean look from beyond the arc in the closing minutes.

Key moments

The turning point came with just over three minutes remaining. Val de Seine produced a 10-2 run, capped by a corner three-pointer and a fast-break layup after a steal. The run gave the home side a comfortable cushion and forced Lyonso to play catch-up basketball.

Lyonso cut the lead to four with under a minute left, but Val de Seine answered with two composed offensive possessions, drawing fouls and converting at the line. A final defensive rebound allowed the home team to run out the clock.

Tactical story

Val de Seine’s half-court offense was patient and balanced. They used ball screens to create mismatches and attacked the offensive glass when shots went up. Defensively, they were willing to concede some mid-range attempts in order to protect the paint and close out on Lyonso’s three-point shooters.

Lyonso’s best moments came when they played with pace and got into the lane. However, their half-court offense became stagnant in the final minutes, and Val de Seine’s physical defense forced them into difficult contested shots. The free-throw margin also favored the home side, reflecting their ability to draw contact late.

Standout performers

Adrien Koffi led Val de Seine with 20 points, including several key baskets in the fourth quarter. Rayan Benali paced Lyonso Basket with 18 points and kept his team in contention with aggressive drives. Val de Seine’s bench provided an important spark in the second half, contributing energy and timely scoring.

Standings impact

This home win gives Val de Seine a valuable result in the France Nationale 1 standings and reinforces their ability to execute in close games. For Lyonso Basket, the loss is a narrow but costly one in a competitive NM1 regular season. Both teams will take lessons from a contest decided by late-game discipline and defensive stops.
