Tours United Metropolitan delivered a dominant defensive performance in France Nationale 1 on October 24, 2026, defeating US Laval 82-60 on the road. The visitors controlled the game from the first quarter and never allowed Laval to settle into a rhythm, turning a modest early lead into a comfortable victory.

Match overview

Tours United Metropolitan led 22-14 after the first quarter and 42-30 at halftime. The second half followed a similar pattern, with Tours extending its advantage to 61-45 by the end of the third and closing the game with a strong final period. The quarter scores were 14-22, 16-20, 15-19 and 15-21, reflecting a consistently one-sided contest.

Key moments

The decisive run came midway through the second quarter, when Tours used a 17-2 burst to turn a six-point lead into a 21-point cushion. The sequence included three three-pointers and a pair of steals that led directly to transition baskets. US Laval never recovered, and Tours kept the hosts at bay with disciplined half-court defense after the break.

Tactical story

Tours United Metropolitan built its win on defense. The visitors forced 20 Laval turnovers, limited second-chance opportunities and contested nearly every perimeter look. Laval finished with only 60 points and struggled to find open shots against Tours’ switching scheme. On offense, Tours moved the ball patiently and made 11 three-pointers, often punishing Laval’s help defense with quick ball reversals.

Standout players

Baptiste Renard led Tours United Metropolitan with 19 points and five assists, while Mathis Colin added 17 points and eight rebounds. The Tours bench also contributed meaningful minutes, helping maintain the defensive intensity. US Laval was paced by Hugo Lambert with 14 points and Antoine Mercier with 11, but the hosts lacked enough firepower to mount a comeback.

Season impact

The road win strengthens Tours United Metropolitan’s position in the France Nationale 1 standings and underlines its defensive potential. US Laval will need to address turnover issues and improve its half-court offense, while Tours can take confidence from a complete performance on both ends.
