Union Rennes Basket 35 Dominate Aurore 96-64 in France Nationale 1

Union Rennes Basket 35 delivered one of their most complete performances of the season, crushing Aurore 96-64 in France Nationale 1 on October 28, 2026. Rennes controlled every quarter and turned a competitive opening into a 32-point rout.

The home side’s defensive pressure, outside shooting, and bench production overwhelmed Aurore, who had no answer for Rennes’ pace and ball movement.

How the game unfolded

• First quarter: Rennes 26-14 Aurore
• Second quarter: Rennes 22-17 Aurore
• Third quarter: Rennes 24-16 Aurore
• Fourth quarter: Rennes 24-17 Aurore
• Final score: Rennes 96-64 Aurore

Rennes came out firing, opening a 14-4 lead within the first five minutes and finishing the opening quarter ahead 26-14. Aurore improved slightly in the second period, but Rennes still won the quarter 22-17 to take a 48-31 halftime lead.

The third quarter was more of the same. Rennes’ full-court pressure forced Aurore into turnovers, and the home side converted those mistakes into easy baskets. By the end of the third, the lead had grown to 72-47, and the final period was played at a comfortable tempo for the hosts.

Key moments and tactical edge

The decisive stretch came early in the second quarter, when Rennes used a 12-2 run to break the game open. The sequence featured two steals, a fast-break dunk, and a corner three-pointer that brought the home crowd to its feet. Aurore never recovered.

Rennes’ tactical superiority was clear in their ball movement and defensive rotations. They shared the ball effectively, attacked the offensive glass, and forced Aurore into contested shots. The bench also played a major role, maintaining the intensity and extending the lead in the fourth quarter.

Standout performers

Mathis Le Goff led Rennes with 21 points, consistently finding openings in Aurore’s defense. Théo Garnier added 17 points and controlled the tempo, while Nolan Chevrier contributed 12 points and several key defensive plays.

Aurore were led by Lucas Perrin with 16 points and Enzo Morel with 11, but the visitors struggled to cope with Rennes’ pressure and depth.

What the result means

Union Rennes Basket 35’s victory strengthens their standing in France Nationale 1 and reinforces their home-court advantage. Aurore will need to address their turnover issues and defensive communication before their next fixture, as they look to recover from a difficult night in Rennes.
