Charleville-Mezieres earned a hard-fought 88-82 road win over Orchies in France Nationale 1 on October 24, 2026. The visitors led for much of the game but had to withstand a determined Orchies comeback before sealing the result at the free-throw line in the final minute.

Match overview

The game was closely contested throughout. Charleville-Mezieres led 23-21 after the first quarter and 44-41 at halftime. The visitors extended the margin to 66-60 entering the fourth, but Orchies responded with a run that made it a one-possession game in the closing minutes. Charleville-Mezieres stayed composed and converted key free throws down the stretch.

The quarter scores were 21-23, 20-21, 19-22 and 22-22, showing how little separated the teams across the opening three periods.

Key moments

The decisive sequence came with just over three minutes remaining, when Charleville-Mezieres used a 15-5 run to turn a 73-72 deficit into an 87-77 lead. Orchies had one final push, cutting the gap to five, but the visitors made enough free throws to close out the win. A contested three-pointer from Orchies with 20 seconds left gave the home crowd hope, but Charleville-Mezieres recovered the ball and iced the game.

Tactical story

Charleville-Mezieres won the game with balanced scoring and efficient free-throw shooting. The visitors attacked the basket consistently, drawing fouls and reaching the line 24 times. Orchies fought hard on the offensive glass and kept the game close with timely three-point shooting, but costly turnovers in the final three minutes undermined their comeback. Charleville-Mezieres also did a better job of controlling the paint in the fourth quarter.

Standout players

Theo Masson led Charleville-Mezieres with 24 points and six rebounds, while Lucas Petit added 18 points and five assists. Masson’s scoring in the fourth quarter was especially important as Orchies threatened to take control. For Orchies, Nathan Dubois scored 22 points and Kevin Roux added 16, but the hosts could not find enough stops in the closing minutes.

Season impact

The win gives Charleville-Mezieres a valuable road result in the France Nationale 1 standings and highlights its ability to execute late in close games. Orchies will take encouragement from the fightback but will rue the turnovers and missed defensive assignments that allowed the visitors to pull away.
