Loon Plage Topple Besancon Avenir Comtois 82-77 in France Nationale 1

Loon Plage defeated Besancon Avenir Comtois 82-77 on October 10, 2026, using a decisive third-quarter run and steady free-throw shooting to protect their home court in France Nationale 1. The five-point win was built on balance, defensive intensity, and a strong finish down the stretch.

Besancon arrived with a clear plan to push the tempo and test Loon Plage's transition defense, but the hosts adjusted well after halftime. The game remained competitive into the final minutes, yet Loon Plage's ability to execute in the half-court and convert at the line ultimately separated the sides.

Match Overview

Loon Plage started brightly, taking a 22-18 lead after the first quarter. Besancon responded in the second, using three-point shooting to briefly edge ahead, but Loon Plage closed the half well and went into the break with a 39-37 advantage.

The third quarter shifted the game firmly in the home side's favor. Loon Plage outscored Besancon 24-17 in the period, building a 63-54 lead heading into the fourth. Besancon made a late push, but the deficit proved just too large to overcome.

Key Moments

The third quarter was the turning point. Leading 39-37 at halftime, Loon Plage opened the second half with a 12-2 run that pushed the advantage into double digits. Besancon called timeout, but Loon Plage's defense continued to force tough shots and their transition offense generated easy baskets. By the end of the third, the hosts led 63-54.

Besancon refused to go away. A 10-2 run in the fourth cut the deficit to 76-73 with under two minutes remaining. Loon Plage answered with a clutch basket inside and then made four straight free throws to seal the win. Besancon had one final three-point attempt, but it missed, and Loon Plage ran out the clock.

Tactical Story

Loon Plage's half-court defense was the foundation of the win. They switched aggressively on screens and limited Besancon's clean looks from beyond the arc, especially in the third quarter. On offense, Loon Plage attacked the paint and kicked out to shooters, finishing with a balanced scoring effort that made them difficult to guard.

Besancon stayed competitive by forcing turnovers and scoring in transition, but their half-court offense stalled for long stretches. They relied heavily on their backcourt to create shots, and when Loon Plage tightened its perimeter defense, the visitors struggled to find alternative sources of offense.

Standout Performances

• Loon Plage forward: Led all scorers with 20 points and added 8 rebounds.
• Loon Plage guard: Contributed 17 points and 6 assists, controlling the pace.
• Loon Plage center: Anchored the defense and finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
• Besancon guard: Scored 22 points, including four three-pointers, to keep his team in contention.

Standings and Season Impact

The victory strengthens Loon Plage's position in France Nationale 1 and gives them confidence as the season progresses. Besancon Avenir Comtois leave with a competitive road performance but will be disappointed to fall short after cutting the lead to three in the final minutes. In a league where every possession matters, Loon Plage's ability to execute late free throws proved decisive.
