Berck/Rang Du Fliers produced a dominant home performance in France's Nationale 1, defeating Val de Seine 87-69 on October 4, 2026. The northern club controlled the game from the second quarter onwards, combining a punishing inside-outside attack with a defensive effort that limited their opponents to just 33 points across the middle two periods.

Match Overview

Nationale 1 is the third tier of French men's basketball and one of the toughest semi-professional divisions in Europe, packed with former professionals, ambitious promotion chasers and physically imposing frontcourts. Home advantage matters enormously, and Berck/Rang Du Fliers used theirs to full effect in a performance that will concern the rest of the division.

How the Game Was Won

The opening quarter was competitive, with Val de Seine matching their hosts basket for basket for the first eight minutes. Berck/Rang edged ahead 22-16 by the end of the period, but the game still felt open. That changed dramatically in the second quarter.

A blistering 25-17 period, driven by aggressive full-court pressure and a flurry of transition baskets, pushed the lead to 14 at halftime. Val de Seine's offence became stuck in neutral, unable to generate clean looks against a defence that switched screens effectively and closed out hard on shooters. The visitors managed just 17 points in the quarter and turned the ball over repeatedly under pressure.

Val de Seine produced their best stretch in the third quarter, edging it 20-19 and briefly reducing the margin to single digits. But Berck/Rang responded with a composed fourth quarter, finishing strongly with a 21-16 period to put the result beyond doubt. Their execution in the half-court during the closing minutes was the hallmark of a well-drilled side.

Standout Performances

Berck/Rang's offensive efficiency was built on balance. Their shooting guard led all scorers with 23 points, hitting four three-pointers in a display of confident perimeter shooting. Their inside pair combined for 30 points and 19 rebounds, exploiting their size advantage in the paint and drawing fouls consistently. The point guard was the engine of the whole performance, finishing with 11 points and 12 assists against just two turnovers.

For Val de Seine, the shooting forward was the most consistent threat, scoring 18 points and battling hard on the boards. Their point guard added 13 points and six assists, but the team's 19 turnovers and a difficult night from beyond the arc made a comeback unrealistic.

Season Impact

This is exactly the kind of statement win that shapes a Nationale 1 season. Berck/Rang Du Fliers have now shown they can both score heavily and defend at a high level, and a home record built on that combination will be central to any promotion ambitions. Their rebounding dominance and assist-to-turnover ratio in this game were particularly impressive.

Val de Seine will need to address their ball security and half-court creativity before a demanding run of fixtures, but there were enough positive spells — particularly in the third quarter — to suggest they can recover quickly. Both clubs now look ahead to the next round, with Berck/Rang aiming to build momentum and Val de Seine focused on tightening up on the road.
