Entente Orleanaise made light work of a potentially awkward trip, defeating Loon Plage 94–77 to progress in the France Basketball Cup. A dominant second quarter broke the game open, and Orléans managed the rest of the contest with the calm authority of a side that expects to be in the latter stages of this competition.

Match overview

Loon Plage showed real ambition early, matching their more celebrated visitors basket for basket through the opening eight minutes and taking a brief lead on the back of some confident perimeter shooting. But Orléans' depth and defensive intensity told as the game wore on, and the visitors pulled away to lead 50–39 at the interval before stretching the margin further in the third.

Key moments

The decisive passage came in the final three minutes of the first half, when Orléans converted three consecutive turnovers into easy points and pushed a two-point game out to a double-digit cushion. Loon Plage never recovered the momentum. A brief 6–0 run early in the fourth quarter reduced the deficit to twelve and lifted the home crowd, but Orléans responded immediately with a corner three and a post-up basket to snuff out the comeback.

Tactical story

Orléans' full-court pressure was the game's defining tactical feature. Loon Plage struggled to advance the ball cleanly, and the resulting hurried possessions produced a stream of low-quality shots. Offensively, the visitors attacked the paint relentlessly, drawing help defenders and then kicking out to open shooters. Loon Plage, to their credit, competed on the glass and generated second-chance opportunities, but they could not match Orléans' efficiency in transition.

Standout performers

Orléans' leading scorer produced a complete performance, finishing efficiently at the rim while also creating for teammates out of the pick-and-roll. Their bench contributed meaningfully, extending the lead rather than surrendering it, which allowed the coaching staff to rotate freely in the fourth quarter. For Loon Plage, a hard-working forward was the standout, battling on both ends and finishing with a team-high scoring night in a losing effort.

Cup and season impact

A 17-point road win is exactly the sort of statement Orléans wanted from this fixture. It protects their standing as a serious threat in the France Basketball Cup, keeps momentum rolling, and gives the squad confidence ahead of the next round. Loon Plage exit the competition knowing they competed for three quarters but were undone by a superior team's pressure defence and depth — a gap that will need closing if they are to go deeper in future editions.
