Telindus Oostende edged Dinamo Bucuresti 84-80 in a tense FIBA Europe Cup matchup that came down to execution in the final two minutes. The Belgian side led for much of the night but had to survive a determined comeback before closing out the win with timely baskets and free throws.

Match overview

Oostende started brightly and established an early advantage with aggressive drives and quick ball movement. Dinamo Bucuresti answered with physical play inside and a series of second-chance points that kept the game within reach. The first quarter ended 22-19, with Oostende’s guards finding gaps in the visiting defense.

The second quarter was a back-and-forth affair. Dinamo briefly took the lead midway through the period, capitalizing on Oostende’s turnovers and attacking the offensive glass. The teams went into halftime with Oostende ahead 41-40, a one-point margin that reflected how little separated them over the opening 20 minutes.

Key moments down the stretch

Dinamo opened the fourth quarter with momentum and tied the game at 66-66 after a strong sequence of inside scoring and defensive stops. The visitors had a chance to take the lead on the next possession, but Oostende forced a contested miss and answered with a three-pointer at the other end. That swing gave the hosts a cushion they would not surrender.

The final minute was frantic. Dinamo cut the deficit to two with a driving layup, but Oostende responded with a composed pick-and-roll that produced an easy basket. After a missed three from Dinamo, Oostende sealed the result at the free-throw line. The home crowd erupted as the final buzzer confirmed an 84-80 win that was far closer than the early pace suggested.

Tactical story

Oostende’s perimeter defense was the difference in the closing stages. They switched effectively on screens and forced Dinamo into difficult shots late in the clock. Offensively, Oostende relied on guard penetration to collapse the defense, creating open looks for shooters and cutters. Their ball movement was especially sharp in the third quarter, when they built a small but important lead.

Dinamo Bucuresti will point to turnovers and missed free throws as key factors in the loss. They competed well on the boards and had success attacking the paint, but their half-court offense became stagnant in crucial moments. Against a disciplined FIBA Europe Cup opponent like Oostende, those empty possessions proved decisive.

Standout performers

Dario Brooks led Telindus Oostende with 22 points, including several clutch baskets in the fourth quarter. Luka Vandenberghe added 16 points and nine rebounds, while Milan Radic contributed 14 points and six assists. For Dinamo Bucuresti, Andrei Vasile scored 18 points and Marko Ilic added 15, but the visitors could not find a final scoring run when it mattered most.

What the result means

The victory gives Oostende an important edge in the FIBA Europe Cup group and reinforces their ability to win close games at home. For Dinamo Bucuresti, the 84-80 defeat is a frustrating one, but the performance showed they can compete deep into the fourth quarter on the road. Both teams will take lessons from a game decided by small margins: a single rebound, a turnover or a made free throw could have changed the outcome.
