Rilski Sportist 62-94 Esenler Erokspor: Erokspor dominate FIBA Europe Cup road test

Esenler Erokspor made a clear statement in the FIBA Europe Cup on October 15, 2026, defeating Rilski Sportist 94-62 on the road. The Turkish side controlled the game from start to finish, using balanced scoring and aggressive defense to turn a potentially tricky away fixture into a comfortable 32-point win.

Rilski Sportist came into the game hoping to use home advantage, but the Bulgarian club was never allowed to find a consistent offensive rhythm. Esenler Erokspor's defense set the tone early, and the visitors kept their foot on the gas through all four quarters.

Match overview

The opening quarter immediately established the pattern: Erokspor defended with energy, pushed the ball in transition, and forced Rilski Sportist into contested shots. The lead grew steadily, and by halftime the game was already leaning heavily in the visitors' favor.

• First quarter: Rilski Sportist 16, Esenler Erokspor 26
• Second quarter: Rilski Sportist 14, Esenler Erokspor 24
• Third quarter: Rilski Sportist 18, Esenler Erokspor 22
• Fourth quarter: Rilski Sportist 14, Esenler Erokspor 22
• Final score: Rilski Sportist 62, Esenler Erokspor 94

Erokspor led 50-30 at halftime and continued to manage the game after the break. Rilski Sportist had a slightly better third quarter, but the visitors answered every mini-run and never let the margin drop into dangerous territory.

Why the game turned

Esenler Erokspor's defensive pressure was the story. The visitors disrupted Rilski Sportist's pick-and-roll actions, closed driving lanes, and forced the home team into difficult passes. Those turnovers became transition points, and Erokspor's ability to score before the defense was set made the game feel one-sided.

On offense, Erokspor shared the ball well and attacked mismatches. When Rilski Sportist switched screens, the Turkish club punished smaller defenders in the post. When the home team stayed in its base defense, Erokspor generated open three-point looks through drive-and-kick sequences. That tactical flexibility kept Rilski Sportist guessing all night.

Defensive pressure and rebounding

The rebounding battle also favored Esenler Erokspor. The visitors limited second-chance points and ended defensive possessions cleanly, which allowed them to play with pace. Rilski Sportist's big men worked hard on the glass, but the team's overall physicality was not enough to slow Erokspor's frontcourt.

Rilski Sportist showed flashes of quality in the third quarter, moving the ball better and finding some success inside. However, the team could not sustain that level, and Erokspor's bench maintained the defensive standard when substitutions came. The depth difference was visible over 40 minutes.

Standout performers and FIBA Europe Cup context

Esenler Erokspor's guards controlled the tempo, while the wings contributed on both ends. The frontcourt finished efficiently and protected the rim, making it difficult for Rilski Sportist to score consistently in the paint. For Rilski Sportist, the effort was there, but the execution and shot-making fell short against a sharper opponent.

This result gives Esenler Erokspor an important road win in FIBA Europe Cup group play and a significant boost to their point differential. Rilski Sportist will need to regroup quickly, tighten their half-court offense, and find ways to generate easier baskets. In European competition, road wins are precious, and Erokspor secured this one with authority.
