Keravnos Strovolos secured a convincing 88-70 victory over KK Parnu in the FIBA Europe Cup, using a strong second-half surge to pull clear of a stubborn Estonian side. The Cypriot club combined efficient perimeter shooting with disciplined defence to claim a valuable eighteen-point win in front of their home supporters.

A competitive first half

KK Parnu arrived with a clear game plan: slow the tempo, pack the paint and force Keravnos into contested jump shots. For twenty minutes it worked reasonably well. The Estonian visitors matched their hosts basket for basket through the opening quarter, and a series of well-executed half-court sets kept the deficit within single digits at the break.

Keravnos led, but not comfortably, and the game remained live heading into the third quarter.

Key moments

• Late second quarter: A 7-0 run gave Keravnos a nine-point halftime cushion and a psychological edge going into the locker room.
• Third quarter: The decisive stretch. Keravnos opened the half with a 13-2 burst, forcing Parnu into turnovers and converting them into transition points.
• Mid-fourth quarter: Back-to-back three-pointers pushed the lead beyond twenty, ending any realistic hope of a Parnu comeback.
• Closing minutes: Keravnos rotated their bench, maintaining defensive intensity and protecting the margin.

Tactical story: defence creates offence

The turning point in this game was defensive. Keravnos Strovolos increased their ball pressure in the third quarter, denying Parnu's primary ball handlers easy entry passes and disrupting their half-court rhythm. The resulting turnovers and rushed shots fuelled a transition game that Parnu simply could not match.

Offensively, Keravnos were patient and well-organised, generating quality looks through ball screens, cuts and extra passing. Their three-point shooting, in particular, proved decisive, stretching Parnu's defence and opening driving lanes. On the glass, the Cypriots held a clear advantage, limiting second-chance opportunities at the defensive end while creating their own at the other.

Standout performers

Andreas Christodoulou led Keravnos with a confident scoring display, combining perimeter accuracy with aggressive drives to the rim. Nikos Georgiou controlled the game from the point guard position, dictating tempo and finding open shooters throughout the second half. Marios Stavrou contributed significantly on the boards and in the paint, giving the hosts a physical presence inside.

For KK Parnu, Mihkel Tamm was the standout, scoring consistently and keeping his team competitive through the first half. Karl-Erik Saar worked hard on both ends and provided some important perimeter scoring, but the Estonian side lacked the depth to sustain their challenge once Keravnos raised the intensity.

What the result means

For Keravnos Strovolos, this is a strong start to build on in the FIBA Europe Cup. An eighteen-point home win provides a healthy points differential and confirms that their defensive identity can translate into continental competition. The manner of the second-half performance — controlled, aggressive and efficient — will particularly please the coaching staff.

KK Parnu leave with a clearer picture of where they stand. Their first-half display showed good organisation and shot selection, and if they can maintain that level across four quarters, better results should follow in the remainder of the group stage.
