Basquet Girona dominate Stelmet Enea BC Zielona Góra 109-68

Basquet Girona produced a dominant 109-68 victory over Stelmet Enea BC Zielona Góra in FIBA Europe Cup play, overwhelming the visitors with defensive pressure and a deep, balanced scoring attack. The 41-point margin was built on a strong first-half run and maintained through disciplined execution after the break.

Girona’s energy at both ends set the tone. The hosts forced turnovers, ran the floor, and moved the ball sharply in the half court, while Zielona Góra struggled to find offensive rhythm against a compact and active defense.

Match overview

Girona opened with intensity, attacking early in the shot clock and pressuring Zielona Góra’s ball handlers. The visitors tried to slow the game with half-court sets, but Girona’s defensive rotations and rebounding limited second chances. Once the hosts found their shooting touch from the perimeter, the lead began to grow quickly.

The second half was more of the same. Girona refused to relax, extending the advantage with bench contributions and consistent defensive communication. Zielona Góra had brief scoring bursts, but they were never enough to threaten the result.

First-half separation

The game’s decisive stretch arrived before halftime, when Girona turned defensive stops into consecutive transition baskets. A flurry of steals, deflections, and quick outlet passes helped the hosts build a commanding lead. Zielona Góra’s offense became stagnant, with too many possessions ending in contested jumpers.

Girona’s ability to score in bunches changed the complexion of the game. By the time Zielona Góra adjusted, the hosts had already established control and confidence.

Standout performers

Girona’s backcourt dictated the pace, combining scoring with playmaking and on-ball pressure. The frontcourt controlled the glass and finished efficiently around the basket. The bench also made an impact, preserving the defensive intensity and keeping the offense flowing.

For Zielona Góra, the leading contributors fought hard, but the team’s overall shooting struggled against Girona’s pressure. The visitors needed more balanced production and cleaner possessions to stay within reach.

Defensive story

Girona’s defense was the foundation of the win. The hosts contested shots, closed driving lanes, and forced Zielona Góra into difficult decisions. Their help rotations were sharp, and their rebounding limited the visitors’ second-chance points. That combination drained Zielona Góra’s confidence and fueled Girona’s transition game.

Offensively, Girona shared the ball well and attacked mismatches. The hosts did not settle for early threes; they worked the ball inside-out and made Zielona Góra defend multiple actions. That patience produced high-quality looks throughout the game.

Group-stage impact

The win gives Basquet Girona a significant boost in the FIBA Europe Cup group stage, both in the standings and in confidence. A 41-point victory sends a strong message about the team’s depth and defensive potential. For Stelmet Enea BC Zielona Góra, the focus will be on improving ball security and finding more consistent offense before the next fixture.
