BC Kyiv-Basket claimed an 89-82 road victory over Stariy Lutsk in the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague on October 2, 2026. The visitors used a balanced scoring attack and a strong fourth quarter to pull away in a game that was close for three periods.

Match Overview

Stariy Lutsk started brightly in front of their home crowd, building an early 12-7 lead behind aggressive drives and offensive rebounds. However, BC Kyiv-Basket responded with a 10-0 run and took a 24-20 lead after the first quarter. The visitors’ perimeter shooting was sharp, and their ball movement forced Lutsk into several defensive breakdowns.

The second quarter was more of the same. Kyiv-Basket extended their advantage to 46-39 at halftime, winning the period 22-19. Lutsk stayed within reach thanks to their inside scoring and free throws, but they struggled to contain Kyiv’s guards off the dribble. Every time Lutsk threatened, Kyiv answered with a timely three or a fast-break basket.

Key Moments

The third quarter was Lutsk’s best stretch. They outscored Kyiv-Basket 23-21 and cut the deficit to 67-62 heading into the final period. A three-pointer early in the fourth made it 67-65, and the home crowd sensed a comeback.

But BC Kyiv-Basket responded with composure. They went on a decisive 9-2 run over the next three minutes, pushing the lead back to 76-67. Lutsk continued to fight, but Kyiv’s half-court execution and free-throw shooting down the stretch sealed the 89-82 win. The visitors scored 22 points in the fourth quarter, matching their first-quarter output and demonstrating their ability to close games on the road.

Tactical Story

BC Kyiv-Basket’s offense was built on penetration and kick-out passing. Their guards consistently broke down Lutsk’s defense, drawing help and finding open shooters on the wing. They also won the rebounding battle, which limited Lutsk’s second-chance opportunities. Defensively, Kyiv mixed man-to-man and zone looks, disrupting Lutsk’s rhythm in the second half.

Stariy Lutsk had success inside, particularly when they attacked the offensive glass, but their half-court offense became predictable late in the game. They settled for contested jump shots and committed costly turnovers in the fourth quarter. The loss was a tough one, but it also showed that Lutsk can compete with one of the stronger teams in the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague when they play with pace and physicality.

Standout Players

• Oleksandr Tkachenko (BC Kyiv-Basket): 22 points, 6 assists. Tkachenko controlled the game and hit several clutch shots in the fourth quarter.
• Dmytro Shevchenko (BC Kyiv-Basket): 18 points, 8 rebounds. Shevchenko was a force on the boards and scored efficiently inside.
• Andriy Melnyk (Stariy Lutsk): 20 points, 9 rebounds. Melnyk led the home side with a strong all-around performance.
• Vitalii Koval (Stariy Lutsk): 17 points, 5 assists. Koval kept Lutsk in the game with timely shooting and playmaking.

Season Impact

The win is a valuable road result for BC Kyiv-Basket in the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague standings. It improves their position early in the season and reinforces their credentials as a team capable of winning away from home. For Stariy Lutsk, the loss is a missed opportunity to protect their home court, but the performance provides positives to build on. The team will need to tighten its late-game execution and defensive rotations before the next round of fixtures.

BC Kyiv-Basket will aim to keep their momentum, while Stariy Lutsk will look to respond in their next home game.
