Key moments

The second quarter was the difference. Mykolaiv opened the period with a 10-2 run, forcing Stariy Lutsk into early foul trouble and generating open three-point looks. A late second-quarter flurry pushed the lead to 15, and although Lutsk responded with a 9-0 run in the third, Mykolaiv’s veteran guards settled the offense and restored a double-digit cushion.

In the final three minutes, Stariy Lutsk cut the deficit to seven, but Mykolaiv converted key offensive rebounds into second-chance points and knocked down free throws to close the door.

Tactical story

Mykolaiv’s offensive execution was sharp, particularly in pick-and-roll situations. Their guards repeatedly turned the corner and either finished at the rim or found shooters in the corners. The hosts also won the rebounding battle, which allowed them to play with pace and avoid extended defensive possessions.

Stariy Lutsk’s defense improved after halftime, but their first-half hole proved too deep. They generated good looks from beyond the arc in the third quarter but could not sustain the run. Mykolaiv’s ability to answer pressure with composed half-court possessions was the defining tactical difference.

Standout players

• Ihor Tkachenko (Mykolaiv): 24 points, 6 assists — paced the offense and hit several timely three-pointers.
• Serhii Marchenko (Mykolaiv): 19 points, 10 rebounds — controlled the paint and gave the hosts second-chance opportunities.
• Andrii Lysenko (Stariy Lutsk): 22 points, 5 rebounds — kept the visitors in the game with aggressive scoring in the second half.
