Key moments

• First-quarter shooting: Rivne’s early perimeter accuracy gave the visitors a small cushion.
• Mykolaiv’s second-quarter response: Inside scoring and free throws kept the home side within three at halftime.
• Fourth-quarter run: Rivne created separation with a burst of scoring and defensive stops early in the final period.

Tactical story

Rivne’s offense was built on ball movement and spacing. The visitors consistently found open shooters and attacked closeouts, forcing Mykolaiv into difficult defensive rotations. Rivne also did a good job of playing with pace without becoming careless, limiting live-ball turnovers that could have fueled Mykolaiv’s transition game.

Mykolaiv’s strength came in the paint, where it scored through contact and earned trips to the free-throw line. However, the home side struggled to contain Rivne’s backcourt in the fourth quarter. Those defensive breakdowns allowed Rivne to build the decisive lead.

Standout performers

Rivne’s guards controlled the tempo and made important shots in the second half. The team’s perimeter shooting stretched Mykolaiv’s defense, while the frontline contributed timely rebounds and inside scoring. For Mykolaiv, the interior effort and scoring production kept the team in contention, but the hosts needed more stops during Rivne’s fourth-quarter surge.

The game showcased Rivne’s depth and balance. Multiple players contributed on offense, making it difficult for Mykolaiv to key in on one scoring threat. That balance was especially important in the final period.

What the result means

For Rivne, the 93-84 road win is a significant result in the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague standings. Winning away from home against a competitive opponent can provide momentum and confidence for the next stretch of games.

For Niko-Basket Mykolaiv, the loss highlights the importance of late-game defense and rebounding. The team showed it can score enough to compete, but it must find ways to get stops when the game tightens. The next fixture will be an opportunity to respond and tighten up the defensive execution.
