The visitors controlled the game from the middle of the first quarter onward, turning a tight opening into a decisive double-digit advantage and never allowing the home side to mount a serious comeback.

Khmelnitsky started with energy and briefly matched Kyiv-Basket in the early exchanges, but the visitors’ defensive pressure and superior half-court execution soon told. Key Moments

The defining stretch came late in the first quarter and early in the second. With the score close, Kyiv-Basket produced a 10-2 run that changed the complexion of the game. The run was built on aggressive closeouts, a pair of steals, and efficient finishing around the rim. Khmelnitsky called timeout, but the visitors kept their structure and extended the lead before halftime.

Any hope of a home revival depended on a strong third-quarter start. Instead, Kyiv-Basket opened the second half with another controlled burst, pushing the advantage beyond 20 points. Khmelnitsky’s offense never found a consistent rhythm, and the visitors closed the game with disciplined possessions and solid free-throw shooting.

Standout Performers

Mykola Bondarenko led BC Kyiv-Basket with 16 points, eight rebounds, and three assists, setting the tone on both ends. Oleksandr Tkachenko added 14 points, while Serhiy Levchenko contributed 11 points and steady perimeter defense. For Khmelnitsky, Dmytro Melnyk was the most reliable scorer with 13 points and seven rebounds, but support was limited.

Kyiv-Basket’s bench also made an impact, providing energy on the offensive glass and keeping the defensive intensity high when the starters rested. That depth proved important as the visitors maintained their advantage through the fourth quarter.

Tactical Story

Kyiv-Basket’s switching defense disrupted Khmelnitsky’s pick-and-roll game and forced contested jump shots. The hosts found little joy from beyond the arc and struggled to generate second-chance points. On offense, Kyiv-Basket attacked the paint early, then used that inside threat to open up kick-out opportunities. The result was a balanced scoring effort and a comfortable road win.

Season Impact

The victory gives BC Kyiv-Basket an important early-season road result in the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague and reinforces their credentials as a team capable of controlling games away from home. For Khmelnitsky, the defeat highlights the need for more consistent half-court offense and better rebounding against physically assertive opponents.
