Key Moments

Hoverla held a narrow 65-64 lead with just over three minutes remaining, but Kharkivski Sokoly responded with a decisive 6-0 run. The sequence began with a corner three, continued with a defensive stop, and was capped by a fast-break layup. Hoverla had chances to answer, but two empty possessions and a pair of missed free throws proved costly.

In the final minute, Sokoly protected the ball and knocked down enough free throws to keep Hoverla at arm’s length. The visitors’ ability to execute in the half-court during crunch time was the standout feature of the closing stretch.

Standout Performers

Artem Sydorenko led Kharkivski Sokoly with 18 points and five assists, repeatedly finding gaps in Hoverla’s defense. Pavlo Marchenko added 15 points, including three important three-pointers, while center Bohdan Rudenko controlled the glass with 10 rebounds. Hoverla’s Ihor Pavlenko top-scored with 17 points, and Nazar Shevchuk added 14 points and six rebounds in a losing effort.

Tactical Story

Kharkivski Sokoly’s perimeter defense was the foundation of the win. They limited Hoverla’s clean looks from deep and forced the hosts into difficult mid-range attempts late in the clock. On offense, Sokoly moved the ball well and attacked closeouts, generating quality shots without relying on a single scorer.

Hoverla won the rebounding battle narrowly but committed too many turnovers in the fourth quarter. Those extra possessions allowed Sokoly to stay in front during the game’s most important moments.

Season Impact

The road win gives Kharkivski Sokoly valuable momentum in the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague and underlines their ability to close out tight games. Hoverla will take encouragement from their competitiveness but will know that better late-game execution is needed to turn narrow defeats into victories.
