Umana Reyer Venezia Women produced one of the most emphatic performances of the EuroCup Women season, dismantling Cluj Napoca Women 111-47 in a game that was effectively over by the end of the first quarter. The Venetian side were relentless on both ends of the floor, and the 64-point margin will be remembered as a statement of intent from one of the competition's traditional powers.

Match Overview

• League: EuroCup Women
• Final score: Umana Reyer Venezia Women 111 – 47 Cluj Napoca Women
• Result: Home win for Venezia
• Margin: 64 points
• Century mark: Venezia passed 100 points in regulation

Scoring over a hundred points in a European fixture is a rarity, and doing so while holding an opponent under fifty is rarer still. Venezia's combination of transition scoring, three-point accuracy and suffocating defence turned the game into a showcase for their squad depth.

How the Game Unfolded

Venezia set the tone from the opening tip. An early press forced Cluj Napoca into hurried passes and rushed shots, and the hosts converted those mistakes into easy baskets at the other end. By the end of the first quarter the lead was already in double figures, and it never stopped growing.

The second quarter was where the game truly broke open. Venezia's second unit maintained the same defensive intensity as the starters, extending the run and pushing the advantage toward thirty points before half-time. Coming out of the locker room, there was no let-up: the third quarter was a procession of fast breaks, open corner threes and second-chance points.

The final period gave the coaching staff an opportunity to rotate the full bench, yet the scoring rate barely dipped. Cluj Napoca, to their credit, kept competing to the final whistle and found some late consolation baskets, but the defensive pressure they faced all evening was simply overwhelming.

Why Venezia Were So Dominant

• Defensive pressure: Venezia's full-court and half-court traps generated a steady stream of turnovers and transition points.
• Perimeter shooting: The hosts shot the ball at a high percentage from beyond the arc, punishing every Cluj Napoca help rotation.
• Rebounding control: Venezia limited second-chance opportunities and finished defensive possessions cleanly.
• Bench depth: Contributions came from across the roster, meaning the intensity never dropped regardless of who was on the floor.

Standout Performances

It was a night for collective excellence rather than individual heroics, but several Venezia players stood out. The backcourt dictated tempo and shot selection, the wings ran the floor relentlessly in transition, and the frontcourt dominated the paint at both ends. For Cluj Napoca, the evening was a difficult lesson, though their late-game energy showed the character within the squad.

What It Means for the Competition

Results like this reshape how opponents approach a fixture. Venezia have sent a clear message to the rest of the EuroCup Women field: they are not merely contenders, they are capable of overwhelming teams when their system clicks. The margin also carries potential tiebreaker value in group play, where point differential can decide qualification.

For Cluj Napoca Women, the focus must be on recovery and resilience. A defeat of this size can be damaging psychologically, but the group stage offers immediate opportunities to respond. Tightening ball security and slowing the game down will be essential in their next outing.
