Key moments

Montpellier set the tone early with aggressive defense and quick ball movement. Panseraikos stayed close for much of the first quarter, but the visitors closed the period on a run to lead 25-19. The second quarter was where the game began to turn; Montpellier’s bench maintained the intensity and helped push the lead to 12 at the break.

Panseraikos made their best push in the third quarter, finding success inside and drawing fouls. But every time the home side threatened to cut the deficit to single digits, Montpellier responded with a timely three or a second-chance basket. The French side controlled the final five minutes to close out the win comfortably.

Tactical story

Montpellier’s offense was balanced and efficient. They attacked the paint, kicked out to open shooters, and punished Panseraikos on the offensive glass. Defensively, they were able to contain Panseraikos’s primary scoring options for long stretches and force contested jumpers.

Panseraikos had success when they played with pace and attacked early in the shot clock. However, they struggled to contain Montpellier’s ball movement and gave up too many open looks from the perimeter. The Greek side also had difficulty matching Montpellier’s physicality on the boards, which limited their second-chance opportunities.

Standout performers

Montpellier’s guards controlled the tempo and knocked down important shots, while their frontcourt players dominated the paint on both ends. The bench provided a significant lift, particularly in the second quarter when the visitors built their decisive lead.

For Panseraikos, the effort remained high throughout. Their inside scoring and ability to get to the free-throw line kept them within striking distance, but they needed more consistent perimeter shooting to match Montpellier’s firepower.

Season impact

The 96-77 win gives Basket Lattes Montpellier Women an important road result in EuroCup Women and strengthens their position in the competition. Panseraikos Women will take lessons from the defeat, especially on defensive rebounding and perimeter containment. Montpellier’s depth and balanced scoring make them a dangerous opponent as the EuroCup Women campaign progresses.
