Olympiakos Women Roll Past Universitario De Ferrol Women 96-68 in EuroCup Women

Olympiakos Women opened their EuroCup Women campaign with a commanding 96-68 home victory over Universitario De Ferrol Women on October 15, 2026. The Greek side delivered a statement performance in Piraeus, overwhelming the Spanish visitors with superior depth, size, and shooting efficiency.

The 28-point final margin reflected Olympiakos’ control throughout, as they never trailed after the opening minutes and steadily pulled away in the second half.

Match Overview

Olympiakos came out with high energy, pressing full court and attacking the rim early. Ferrol tried to slow the tempo with half-court sets, but Olympiakos’ defensive pressure forced turnovers and rushed decisions. The home side built a double-digit lead by the end of the first quarter and continued to extend it.

The quarter breakdown showed Olympiakos’ dominance:

• First quarter: Olympiakos 27, Ferrol 18
• Second quarter: Olympiakos 24, Ferrol 16
• Third quarter: Olympiakos 23, Ferrol 17
• Fourth quarter: Olympiakos 22, Ferrol 17

Ferrol had no answer for Olympiakos’ balanced attack, and the Greek club’s bench maintained the intensity even with the game already in hand.

Key Moments

The decisive run came midway through the second quarter. Ferrol had briefly reduced the deficit to 11, but Olympiakos responded with a 10-0 surge fueled by back-to-back three-pointers and a pair of fast-break layups. That sequence pushed the lead to 21 and effectively ended Ferrol’s hopes of a comeback.

In the third quarter, Olympiakos’ defense tightened further. Ferrol went nearly four minutes without a field goal, and Olympiakos capitalized with easy points in transition. The final quarter was played at a comfortable pace, with Olympiakos emptying their bench while still extending the margin.

Tactical Story

Olympiakos’ game plan was built on defensive aggression and inside-out offense. They used their size advantage in the paint to draw double teams, then kicked the ball to open shooters on the perimeter. The result was a high assist total and a shooting percentage that Ferrol could not match.

Ferrol struggled with Olympiakos’ length on the wings. Their guards had difficulty penetrating, and their post players were forced into contested shots. On the glass, Olympiakos controlled both ends, limiting Ferrol’s second-chance opportunities and fueling their own transition game.

Standout Players

Olympiakos received major contributions from their starting frontcourt, which dominated the paint and set the tone on defense. Their guards also played well, pushing the pace and knocking down open looks. The bench added energy and scoring, showing why Olympiakos are considered one of the deeper teams in the competition.

For Universitario De Ferrol Women, the loss was a tough lesson. Their leading scorer managed to reach double figures, but the team as a whole shot poorly from the field and committed too many turnovers. They will need to improve their ball security and half-court execution in the next EuroCup Women fixture.

Season Impact

With the 96-68 win, Olympiakos Women start their EuroCup Women group campaign with a strong point differential and immediate momentum. In a competition where group standings and tiebreakers often come down to margin, this result could be crucial. Ferrol, meanwhile, will aim to regroup quickly and find a more consistent offensive rhythm before their next game.
