Kanpo Women secured a valuable road victory in the EuroCup Women, defeating Nyon Basket Women 77-59. The visitors produced a controlled, professional performance in Switzerland, gradually breaking down the home side's resistance before pulling clear in the second half.

Match Overview

Nyon started brightly, feeding off home support and attacking the basket with intent. The opening quarter was tightly contested, with both teams trading baskets and neither able to establish meaningful separation. But as the game settled, Kanpo's structure and patience began to tell.

The second quarter proved decisive. Kanpo tightened their defense, forced Nyon into difficult mid-range attempts, and capitalized with efficient transition scoring. A double-digit halftime lead gave the visitors the platform to manage the second half on their own terms.

Key Moments

• Late first-half surge: A run of consecutive stops converted into points gave Kanpo a comfortable cushion at the interval.
• Third-quarter response: Nyon briefly cut the deficit with a flurry of three-pointers, but Kanpo answered immediately with a composed set play.
• Fourth-quarter execution: Free-throw accuracy and disciplined clock management closed out the game in the final five minutes.

Tactical Story

Kanpo's victory was built on balance. They scored inside and out, shared the ball unselfishly, and rarely allowed Nyon to string together consecutive scoring possessions. Their defensive scheme prioritized protecting the paint, daring the hosts to shoot from distance, and the strategy paid off as Nyon's perimeter shooting cooled after a promising start.

Nyon's best moments came when they pushed the tempo and attacked before the defense set. But too often the Swiss side were forced into isolation plays late in the shot clock, resulting in low-percentage attempts and offensive rebounds conceded at the other end.

Standout Performers

Kanpo's leading scorers combined composure with aggression, while their guards controlled the tempo superbly in the closing quarter. The rebounding battle was also decisive, with the visitors winning the second-chance points category comfortably. For Nyon, the effort in the paint and the energy from the bench were positive takeaways from a difficult evening.

Season Impact

The win strengthens Kanpo's position in the EuroCup Women group standings and gives them momentum heading into the next round of fixtures. A road win by 18 points is a significant result in a competition where home advantage usually counts for plenty.

Nyon remain in the hunt but will need to find greater consistency on the defensive end. Their scoring output of 59 points highlights the need for additional offensive firepower as the group stage progresses.
