KP Brno Women 72-60 Nyon Basket Women: Brno grind out EuroCup Women home win

KP Brno Women opened their EuroCup Women campaign with a solid 72-60 home victory over Nyon Basket Women on October 15, 2026. In a game that was more defensive than the final margin suggested, Brno used a balanced attack and timely stops to pull away in the second half.

Nyon Basket Women competed well for long stretches, but the Swiss side could not match Brno's efficiency in the closing quarters. The 12-point win gives KP Brno an important early boost in the group phase and sets a positive tone for their European campaign.

Match overview

Brno started with good energy and took a narrow lead after the first quarter. The game remained tight through the second, but the home team gradually imposed its defensive identity and limited Nyon's clean looks. By the final period, Brno had enough control to close out the win.

How KP Brno built the win

KP Brno's success came from defense and balance. The home team communicated well on screens, rotated with purpose, and forced Nyon into contested jump shots. On offense, Brno did not rely on one player; the scoring was spread across the roster, which made the team harder to defend.

The third quarter was particularly important. Brno opened the second half with a small run, pushing the lead to double digits and forcing Nyon to chase. From that point, the Czech side managed the game intelligently, trading baskets when necessary and avoiding the kind of turnovers that could have invited a comeback.

Defensive keys

Rebounding was a key factor in Brno's favor. The home team limited Nyon's second-chance opportunities and controlled the defensive glass, which allowed them to set their half-court defense. Brno also did a good job of containing dribble penetration, forcing Nyon to settle for outside shots.

Nyon had moments of quality, particularly when its guards attacked in transition, but the team struggled to score consistently against Brno's set defense. The Swiss side's late-game execution was also disrupted by Brno's pressure, and the home team's composure down the stretch was a difference-maker.

Standout performers and EuroCup Women impact

KP Brno's guards controlled the tempo, the forwards contributed on the boards, and the bench gave valuable minutes without a drop in intensity. For Nyon Basket Women, there were positive individual spells, but the team will need more consistent production on offense in future EuroCup Women fixtures.

With the win, KP Brno Women put themselves in a strong early position in their group and gave their home fans a reason for optimism. Nyon Basket Women will look to learn from the loss and respond in their next game. In a competition where point differential can matter, Brno's 12-point margin could prove useful later in the campaign.
