Tactical story

TTT Riga’s defense was the story of the night. They forced 20 turnovers, contested nearly every perimeter shot, and limited Cluj Napoca’s interior touches. Their help defense was particularly effective, closing driving lanes and forcing the hosts into difficult passes.

Offensively, Riga played with pace and precision. They finished with 23 assists and attacked the offensive glass, generating extra possessions. Their bench contributed 25 points, ensuring no drop-off when the starters rested.

Standout performers

Riga’s starting guard led the team with 19 points and seven assists, orchestrating the offense and setting the defensive tone. A forward added 18 points and 10 rebounds, dominating the paint on both ends. Another perimeter player reached double figures with 14 points, including four three-pointers.

Cluj Napoca’s leading scorer managed 14 points but needed 15 shots to get there. Their center added 12 points and eight rebounds, but the hosts struggled to find consistent offense against Riga’s pressure.

EuroCup Women group impact

The 84-62 win is a major confidence boost for TTT Riga Women and a significant result in the EuroCup Women group standings. A road victory of this margin can be crucial when point differential is used as a tiebreaker, and Riga’s defensive performance sends a warning to the rest of the group.

Cluj Napoca Women will need to regroup quickly. The Romanian side has the talent to compete, but they must improve their ball security and half-court execution to avoid similar setbacks in upcoming fixtures.
