Match Overview

Charnay set the tone immediately, racing to a 26-12 lead after the first quarter. The advantage grew to 49-26 by halftime and 71-39 after three quarters. HBA Women never found an answer for Charnay’s full-court pressure or their efficient half-court execution.

The 37-point win is a significant result in the EuroCup Women group standings. It boosts Charnay’s point differential and sends a clear message that they will be a tough opponent at home this season.

How Charnay Built the Blowout

The first quarter was decisive. Charnay forced turnovers, scored in transition, and knocked down open threes. A 12-0 run midway through the period turned an early 8-6 edge into a 20-6 lead. HBA managed only 12 points in the quarter and never recovered.

The second quarter was more of the same. Charnay added 23 points while holding HBA to 14, taking a 49-26 lead into the break. The third quarter saw Charnay extend the lead to 71-39, and the bench closed out the fourth with a 20-15 advantage to complete the 91-54 rout.

Key Moments

• First-quarter explosion: Charnay’s 12-0 run broke the game open early at 20-6.
• Halftime dominance: A 9-0 spurt late in the second quarter pushed the lead to 49-26.
• Third-quarter pressure: Charnay opened the second half with a 10-2 run, making it 59-28.
• Bench production: The reserves maintained the intensity and extended the lead beyond 35 points.

Tactical Story

Charnay’s defense was relentless. They pressed HBA into turnovers, contested every pass, and limited clean looks from the perimeter. Offensively, Charnay shared the ball beautifully, recording assists on a large share of their baskets. The home side attacked the paint, kicked out to shooters, and crashed the offensive glass.

HBA Women struggled with ball security and shot selection. When they did break the press, they often rushed shots or turned the ball over again. Charnay’s depth allowed them to rotate freely without losing energy, which is a major advantage in EuroCup Women competition.

Standout Players and Season Impact

Charnay’s scoring was spread across the roster, with multiple players contributing in double figures. The guard play was sharp, the frontcourt controlled the boards, and the bench provided a seamless extension of the starting unit.

For HBA Women, the loss is a tough lesson in handling pressure and protecting the ball. They will need to regroup quickly, because the EuroCup Women group phase leaves little room for consecutive defeats. Charnay, meanwhile, adds an impressive win to their resume and strengthens their standing in the group table.
