CBK Mersin Women produced a controlled, professional display at home in the EuroCup Women, defeating Wroclaw Women's 72-59. The Turkish side led from the opening minutes and were never seriously threatened, combining disciplined half-court defense with efficient interior scoring to secure a comfortable 13-point win.

Match Overview

Mersin entered the game looking to establish themselves early at both ends, and they did exactly that. A 20-point first quarter set the tone, and while Wroclaw kept the margin respectable for long stretches, they never found the offensive consistency required to turn the game into a genuine contest.

Quarter-by-Quarter Breakdown

• First quarter: Mersin 20-14 — a fast start built on defensive stops and inside scoring.
• Second quarter: Mersin 18-16 — Wroclaw's best period, but the deficit held at eight.
• Third quarter: Mersin 17-15 — the hosts maintained control through a scrappy stretch.
• Fourth quarter: Mersin 17-14 — Mersin closed it out without alarms.

Key Moments

Wroclaw's best chance to make it a game came midway through the third quarter, when a pair of three-pointers trimmed the lead to six and briefly silenced the home crowd. Mersin answered with a 9-2 run over the next three minutes, with the run punctuated by a block at one end and a three-point play at the other. That sequence restored a double-digit cushion and took the sting out of the visitors' momentum.

The fourth quarter was largely a matter of game management. Mersin slowed the pace, worked the shot clock, and converted their free throws, ensuring Wroclaw never got closer than nine points in the final eight minutes.

Tactical Story

Mersin's game plan centered on attacking the paint. Their guards repeatedly drove into the lane, drawing help defenders and creating open looks for shooters or dump-off passes to the posts. The result was a high-percentage shooting night and a significant advantage in points in the paint.

Defensively, the hosts switched aggressively on screens and closed out hard on Wroclaw's shooters, forcing the Polish side into a low-percentage evening from beyond the arc. Wroclaw's half-court sets became increasingly predictable as the game progressed, and their inability to generate easy baskets in transition left them chasing.

Standout Performers

• CBK Mersin Women: Their starting center was the anchor, dominating the boards and finishing efficiently around the rim. The point guard orchestrated the offense with poise and a strong assist tally.
• Wroclaw Women's: Their small forward was the standout in defeat, scoring consistently and battling on the glass despite limited support.

EuroCup Women Context

With this win, Mersin strengthen their standing in the group and add an important home result to their record — the kind of victory that carries weight when tiebreakers are calculated. Wroclaw leave with lessons to take from their half-court execution, but their defensive effort kept the scoreline from becoming embarrassing. The return fixture in Poland now takes on added significance for both sides.
