Kibirkstis set the tone early

The first quarter was decisive. Kibirkstis played with pace, moved the ball ahead of the defense, and attacked the basket with confidence. When Sony Athinaikos collapsed into the paint, Kibirkstis kicked the ball out for open three-point attempts. That inside-out balance made the offense nearly impossible to guard.

Defensively, Kibirkstis disrupted Sony Athinaikos's half-court sets. The home team pressured the ball, jumped passing lanes, and forced turnovers that turned into easy transition points. Those extra possessions allowed Kibirkstis to build a lead quickly and put the visitors under constant pressure.

Tactical story: pace, perimeter, and paint

Kibirkstis controlled the game with tempo. The team pushed after makes and misses, never allowing Sony Athinaikos to set its defense. In the half court, Kibirkstis used high ball screens to create mismatches and then punished the defense with either a drive or a kick-out three.

The rebounding battle also went decisively in Kibirkstis's favor. The home team limited second-chance points and ended defensive possessions cleanly, which fueled their running game. Sony Athinaikos had brief moments of offensive success, but could not sustain them against Kibirkstis's energy and physicality.

Standout performers and EuroLeague Women implications

Kibirkstis received contributions across the roster. The guards orchestrated the offense and set the defensive tone, the wings shot the ball well, and the interior players finished efficiently around the rim. The bench maintained the intensity, showing the depth that makes Kibirkstis a dangerous team in EuroLeague Women.

For Sony Athinaikos Women, it was a tough night against an opponent that was sharper on both ends. The Greek side will need to improve its ball security and half-court execution before the next round of games. Kibirkstis, meanwhile, will take great confidence from a 38-point win and a 100-point offensive performance. In EuroLeague Women, victories like this can shape group momentum and point differential, and Kibirkstis Women made the most of their home opportunity.
