Key Moments

The game’s decisive moment arrived late in the first half. Leading 38-28 with just over four minutes remaining in the second quarter, Flammes Carolo unleashed a 16-5 run to close the period. The surge was sparked by back-to-back steals that led to easy layups, followed by a pair of three-pointers from the wing. By the time the halftime buzzer sounded, the contest was effectively over.

Rapid Bucuresti showed brief signs of life early in the third quarter, scoring on three consecutive possessions to cut the lead to 18. But Flammes Carolo responded immediately with a 10-0 run of their own, capped by a highlight-reel block that turned into a fast-break three. From that point on, the home side cruised, emptying their bench in the final minutes.

Tactical Story

Flammes Carolo’s victory was built on defense and transition offense. They pressured the ball handlers full-court, disrupted Rapid Bucuresti’s entry passes, and converted turnovers into easy points. The hosts finished with a significant advantage in fast-break points and also dominated the rebounding battle, limiting second-chance opportunities for the Romanian side.

Offensively, Flammes Carolo shared the ball beautifully, registering assists on a high percentage of their made baskets. They attacked the rim with purpose and kicked out to open shooters when the defense collapsed. Rapid Bucuresti, meanwhile, struggled to find offensive rhythm. Their half-court sets were slow and predictable, and they settled for too many contested mid-range jumpers.

Standout Players

• Flammes Carolo Basket Women: Amelie Rousseau led all scorers with 22 points, adding 6 assists and 4 steals. Clara Dubois was superb inside with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Marine Lefevre chipped in 15 points off the bench, including three three-pointers.
• Rapid Bucuresti Women: Ioana Popescu fought hard for 16 points and 7 rebounds, but she received limited support. Elena Ionescu added 12 points, though she struggled with her shooting efficiency against the home side’s aggressive defense.

EuroLeague Women Impact

This win boosts Flammes Carolo’s position in the EuroLeague Women standings and gives them a valuable point differential advantage in the group phase. In a competition where tiebreakers often come down to margin of victory, a 32-point home win could be crucial later in the season. The French club also showed that they have the depth and defensive intensity to compete with the top teams in Europe.

For Rapid Bucuresti, the loss highlights areas that need urgent attention. They will need to improve their ball security, half-court execution, and defensive communication if they hope to challenge for a playoff spot. The Romanian side has talent, but they were outclassed in almost every facet of the game on this night.
