Valencia Stun Lyon-Villeurbanne 105-92 in EuroLeague Road Win

Valencia produced one of the standout results of the early EuroLeague season on October 3, 2026, beating Lyon-Villeurbanne 105-92 on the road. The Spanish side's offense was firing all night, and the visitors pulled away in the second half to secure a 13-point victory. The win improves Valencia's EuroLeague record and leaves Lyon-Villeurbanne searching for answers on defense.

The 105-point outburst was the headline: Valencia shot the ball efficiently from deep, ran in transition, and punished every Lyon-Villeurbanne mistake. The home side kept pace for a while but could not match Valencia's scoring depth over 40 minutes.

Match Overview

Lyon-Villeurbanne started brightly, using its athleticism to attack the rim and draw fouls. The French club led early and had the home crowd engaged. But Valencia's ball movement and three-point shooting kept the game close, and a late first-half run gave the visitors a narrow lead at the break.

In the third quarter, Valencia took control. The Spanish guards repeatedly broke down Lyon-Villeurbanne's defense off the dribble, kicking out to open shooters or finishing at the rim. The lead grew to double digits, and although Lyon-Villeurbanne made a few runs, Valencia always had an answer.

Key Moments

• Late first-half run: Valencia closed the second quarter with a flurry of threes to take momentum into halftime.
• Third-quarter explosion: A 12-3 run early in the second half turned a close game into a double-digit Valencia lead.
• Clutch fourth-quarter shooting: Every time Lyon-Villeurbanne cut the deficit, Valencia responded with a timely basket from beyond the arc.

Standout Performers

Valencia's backcourt was outstanding, combining for a high number of points and assists while controlling the tempo. The frontcourt also contributed on the boards and set tough screens that freed shooters. Lyon-Villeurbanne got a strong scoring effort from its wings, but the team's defense could not contain Valencia's pick-and-roll attack.

The home side's brightest stretches came when it pushed the pace and attacked the basket. However, too many missed rotations and live-ball turnovers allowed Valencia to score easy points. Against a team shooting as well as Valencia, those mistakes proved fatal.

Tactical Story and EuroLeague Impact

Valencia's offensive execution was near flawless. The visitors used high ball screens to force switches, then either attacked the mismatch or found open shooters. Their spacing was excellent, and they made the extra pass repeatedly. Defensively, Valencia did just enough, forcing Lyon-Villeurbanne into contested jumpers and limiting second-chance points.

The 105-92 result is a major confidence boost for Valencia and a warning to the rest of the EuroLeague. In the standings, the road win is especially valuable, as it strengthens Valencia's position early in the regular season. Lyon-Villeurbanne must tighten its defense and reduce turnovers before its next game, or it risks falling behind in the playoff race.
