Baskonia Vitoria vs Olimpia Milano: Baskonia take 87-76 EuroLeague win

Baskonia Vitoria produced a controlled and confident performance at Buesa Arena, defeating Olimpia Milano 87-76 in EuroLeague action on October 3, 2026. The Spanish club used a strong third quarter and a balanced offensive attack to pull away from a Milano side that stayed within striking distance for much of the first half.

The final score flattered Baskonia slightly, but the margin was deserved. The hosts shared the ball well, attacked the paint with purpose, and made the extra pass against a Milano defense that struggled to contain dribble penetration after halftime. For EuroLeague standings purposes, it was an important early-season result for Baskonia, while Milano left with lessons to address on the road.

Match Overview

Baskonia opened with energy and led 24-18 after the first quarter. Milano responded in the second period, using a more patient half-court attack to trim the deficit, but the home side still took a 43-38 advantage into the locker room. The decisive stretch came in the third quarter, when Baskonia outscored Milano 22-16 to build a 65-54 lead. Both teams traded baskets in the final period, but Milano never seriously threatened the outcome.

The quarter-by-quarter flow underlined Baskonia’s control: 24-18, 19-20, 22-16, 22-22. The hosts were particularly effective when the game became physical, drawing fouls and converting second-chance opportunities. Milano’s offense had moments of rhythm, especially through its perimeter shooting, but it could not string together enough defensive stops to mount a late comeback.

Key Moments

• First-quarter burst: Baskonia raced to an early lead by pushing the tempo and finding open shooters in transition.
• Second-quarter resilience: Milano cut into the deficit before halftime, but Baskonia answered with timely three-point shooting.
• Third-quarter separation: A 10-2 run midway through the third gave Baskonia a double-digit cushion it would not surrender.
• Closing execution: In the final five minutes, Baskonia slowed the pace, protected the ball, and knocked down free throws to seal the win.

Standout Players

Baskonia’s backcourt set the tone, with Markus Howard scoring a team-high 22 points and adding four assists. Chima Moneke was a force inside, finishing with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Tadas Sedekerskis contributed 12 points and several important defensive plays. The hosts also received solid minutes from their bench, which helped maintain energy on both ends.

For Olimpia Milano, Nikola Mirotic led the scoring with 19 points, and Shavon Shields added 14. Zach LeDay chipped in 12 points and fought hard on the boards, but Milano’s supporting cast struggled to find consistent offensive rhythm. The visitors shot well in spurts but were undone by turnovers and a lack of defensive rebounds in key moments.

EuroLeague Standings Impact

The win gives Baskonia valuable momentum in the EuroLeague regular-season race. Home victories are essential in a competition where road games are notoriously difficult, and this result strengthens their position in the early standings. For Milano, the loss is a reminder that defensive consistency must improve if the Italian club is to compete for a top playoff seed.

What’s Next

Baskonia will look to carry this form into their next EuroLeague fixture, while Olimpia Milano return home aiming to correct their late-game execution. The head-to-head result will also matter if the two teams are fighting for the same playoff position later in the season.
