Skyliners Frankfurt 94, Isla De Tenerife Canarias 104 — Isla De Tenerife Canarias claimed a 104-94 road win over Skyliners Frankfurt in EuroCup Basketball, using veteran composure and a barrage of fourth-quarter three-pointers to pull away in a high-scoring contest. Frankfurt fought hard and stayed within striking distance for much of the night, but Tenerife’s execution down the stretch proved decisive.

Match overview

The game was played at a fast pace from the opening tip, with both teams finding early success from beyond the arc. Frankfurt’s home energy and aggressive shot-making kept them close through the first half, and the teams went into the break separated by just four points. Tenerife’s ball movement and experience were evident, but Frankfurt’s young guards attacked fearlessly and kept the crowd engaged.

The third quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team able to build a significant lead. Tenerife held a narrow advantage entering the final period, but Frankfurt tied the game early in the fourth. That was when the Spanish side’s experience took over. Tenerife knocked down four three-pointers in a decisive 14-3 run, and Frankfurt could not respond quickly enough. Free throws in the final minute sealed the victory for the visitors.

Key moments

• Fourth-quarter run: Tenerife’s 14-3 burst, fueled by four three-pointers, turned a tied game into a double-digit lead.
• Frankfurt’s resilience: The hosts twice cut the lead to five in the final three minutes but could not get the defensive stop they needed.
• Veteran execution: Tenerife managed the clock expertly in the closing minutes, drawing fouls and making free throws to keep Frankfurt at bay.

Tactical story

Tenerife’s offense was a model of efficiency. The Spanish side moved the ball patiently, using ball screens and off-ball movement to create open three-point looks. When Frankfurt switched defensively, Tenerife attacked the mismatches inside or kicked out to shooters. The visitors also took care of the ball for long stretches, limiting Frankfurt’s transition opportunities.

Defensively, Tenerife focused on containing Frankfurt’s dribble penetration. The hosts still found some success attacking the rim, but Tenerife’s help defense and rim protection improved in the second half. Frankfurt shot well from three for much of the night, but the hosts’ shot selection became more rushed as they chased the game in the fourth quarter.

Frankfurt’s effort was commendable, particularly on the offensive glass, where they created extra possessions. However, their defensive rotations were a step slow against Tenerife’s ball movement, and the hosts paid for it from beyond the arc.

Standout performers

Tenerife’s veteran backcourt controlled the game, combining for 38 points and 12 assists. The guards consistently found open shooters and made big shots when Frankfurt threatened to take the lead. Forward Javier Rodriguez added 16 points and eight rebounds, providing a steady inside presence and knocking down a key corner three during the decisive run.

For Skyliners Frankfurt, Malik Turner led the way with 22 points, showing confidence from beyond the arc and attacking closeouts. Guard Leon Weber added 15 points and six assists, repeatedly pushing the pace and finding teammates in transition. However, Frankfurt’s bench was outscored, and the hosts’ late turnovers proved costly.

Season impact and standings picture

The road win strengthens Isla De Tenerife Canarias’ position in the EuroCup Basketball standings and highlights their ability to close out tight games away from home. The Spanish side’s experience and shooting make them a dangerous opponent in any environment. Frankfurt, meanwhile, will take encouragement from competing for three quarters against a seasoned opponent, but the loss leaves them searching for consistency on the defensive end.

For Frankfurt, the focus will be on late-game execution and defensive rotation. The German side has shown it can score with quality opposition, but closing games requires poise and discipline. Tenerife, by contrast, demonstrated exactly that in the final quarter, and they will look to carry that momentum into their next EuroCup fixture.
