Aquila Basket Trento edged out Neptunas Klaipeda 76-73 on September 30, 2026, in a tightly contested EuroCup Basketball regular-season matchup in Lithuania. The Italian side relied on clutch perimeter shooting and disciplined late-game execution to hand the hosts their first home defeat of the campaign.

Match Overview

Neptunas came out firing in front of a loud home crowd, using an 11-2 run midway through the first quarter to build a 22-16 lead. Trento responded with a patient half-court attack, leaning on Quinn Ellis and Jordan Caroline to cut the deficit to 38-35 by halftime. The third quarter turned into a defensive battle, with neither team able to establish a double-digit advantage. A late 7-0 surge from Trento, capped by a Davide Alviti corner three, gave the visitors a 58-54 edge going into the final period.

The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth affair. Neptunas regained the lead at 68-66 with four minutes remaining, but Trento’s experience showed down the stretch. Toto Forray hit a pull-up jumper, then Caroline converted an and-one to put Trento up 73-70. The hosts had a chance to tie in the final seconds, but a contested three-pointer rimmed out, and Trento iced the game at the free-throw line.

Tactical Story

Trento’s ability to switch screens and contest three-point shots proved decisive. Neptunas shot just 6-of-24 from beyond the arc, while Trento connected on 10-of-26. The Italian side also controlled the defensive glass, limiting second-chance opportunities for the Lithuanian big men. Offensively, Trento’s ball movement created open looks, with 19 assists on 28 made field goals. Neptunas, meanwhile, relied heavily on isolation plays and struggled to generate clean looks in the half-court during the final five minutes.

Standout Players

Quinn Ellis led Trento with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Jordan Caroline added 16 points and 9 rebounds, while Davide Alviti chipped in 12 points, including three triples. For Neptunas, Žygimantas Janavičius had a team-high 17 points and 6 assists, and Mindaugas Kačinas recorded a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Season Impact

With the win, Trento improves to 2-0 in EuroCup Group B, while Neptunas falls to 1-1. The result tightens the race for top spot in the group and gives Trento a valuable road victory that could prove crucial in tiebreakers. Neptunas will look to bounce back in their next fixture, while Trento returns home with momentum and a clear identity on both ends of the floor.
