Lietkabelis 42-50 Ratiopharm Ulm — Ratiopharm Ulm won a low-scoring EuroCup Basketball battle 50-42 at Lietkabelis on 28 October 2026, relying on defense and late composure to secure the road victory.

Ulm grind out defensive win in Panevėžys

Ratiopharm Ulm never allowed Lietkabelis to find offensive comfort, holding the hosts to 42 points in a patient, physical EuroCup Basketball contest. Ulm led by five at halftime, survived a brief third-quarter push, and closed the game with the cleaner possessions in the final minutes.

The result is a valuable one for Ulm in the group standings, while Lietkabelis is left with a frustrating night in which its half-court offense never fully clicked.

Match overview and quarter scores

Ulm started with better offensive structure, moving the ball patiently and finding enough inside looks to take a 14-11 lead after the first quarter. The second quarter was even scrappier, but Ulm’s defense held Lietkabelis to 10 points and the visitors went into halftime ahead 26-21.

Lietkabelis briefly threatened in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to two possessions behind a stronger effort on the offensive glass. But Ulm responded with a timely three-pointer and a pair of defensive stops, carrying a 37-33 lead into the final period. From there, Ulm controlled the tempo and protected its advantage.

Key moments

The game’s decisive sequence came midway through the fourth quarter. With Lietkabelis within striking distance, Ulm forced two consecutive turnovers and converted them into four points. That pushed the lead to eight and forced the hosts to chase the game with increasingly difficult shots.

Lietkabelis had one final chance to make it a one-possession game, but a missed open three and a contested follow-up ended the threat. Ulm’s free-throw shooting in the final minute sealed a win that was built on defense rather than offensive fireworks.

Tactical story

Ulm’s half-court defense was excellent. The visitors switched screens effectively, closed driving lanes and forced Lietkabelis into late-clock attempts. Ulm also controlled the defensive glass, limiting second-chance opportunities and making the hosts work for every point.

Lietkabelis’s offensive struggles came from a lack of rhythm. The hosts moved the ball well at times but could not knock down enough perimeter shots to punish Ulm’s compact defense. When Lietkabelis did find space inside, Ulm’s help rotations arrived quickly.

Standout performers

• Ulm’s backcourt: protected the ball, hit timely shots and dictated the pace in the fourth quarter.
• Ulm’s defensive anchor: altered shots at the rim and helped limit Lietkabelis’s inside scoring.
• Lietkabelis’s center: battled on the boards and provided most of the hosts’ reliable interior offense.

EuroCup Basketball table and season impact

The win improves Ulm’s position in the EuroCup Basketball group standings and gives the club a useful road result in a difficult environment. Defensive consistency will be key if Ulm is to remain in the knockout-stage conversation.

For Lietkabelis, the loss is a missed opportunity at home. The club remains competitive, but its scoring drought in key moments cost it dearly. The next group fixture will be an important chance to restore offensive confidence.
