JL Bourg-en-Bresse continued their strong EuroCup Basketball form with a commanding 90-79 home win over Aquila Basket Trento, in a game that showcased the French side's offensive depth and composure under pressure. Trailing briefly early, Bourg seized control before halftime and never relinquished it.

Match overview

Trento came out with intent, hitting shots from deep and unsettling Bourg's defensive structure in the opening minutes. But the hosts weathered the storm, adjusting their pick-and-roll coverage and beginning to impose themselves physically. By the second quarter, the momentum had swung, and Bourg's lead continued to grow through the second half.

The 11-point final margin slightly understated Bourg's dominance during the middle two quarters, when they built a cushion that allowed them to absorb a spirited Trento fightback late on.

Key moments

• First quarter: Trento's hot shooting from three-point range gave them an early edge.
• Second quarter: Bourg's response — a sustained run built on defensive stops and quick transition scoring that flipped the game.
• Third quarter: The hosts' best spell, capped by a run that pushed the lead beyond 15 points.
• Fourth quarter: Trento reduced the arrears with a late flurry, but Bourg's control at the free-throw line secured the result.

Tactical story

Bourg's offence revolved around ball movement and aggressive drives. They consistently collapsed Trento's defence and made the extra pass, generating high-percentage attempts from both inside and out. Their rebounding work at the offensive end was particularly impressive, extending possessions and frustrating the Italian visitors.

Defensively, Bourg tightened up after a slow start, contesting Trento's shooters more effectively and closing driving lanes. Trento's offence grew increasingly one-dimensional as the game progressed, and their reliance on perimeter jumpers became a problem when those shots stopped falling.

Standout performers

Bourg's scoring was pleasingly spread, with multiple players in double figures, reflecting the team-first identity that has defined their European campaign. Their guards controlled tempo well, while the frontcourt provided a physical presence on the boards. Trento's best performers kept their side in touch during the lean periods, but the visitors lacked the collective firepower to match Bourg's balanced attack.

Season impact

Home victories are the currency of EuroCup group-stage progression, and this was a solid piece of business for Bourg-en-Bresse. It reinforces their credentials as a difficult team to beat in France and strengthens their position heading into the next round of fixtures. Trento, meanwhile, will rue a game that got away during a costly second-quarter stretch.
