Bahcesehir Koleji opened their EuroCup Basketball campaign with a statement 91-78 home victory over BC Roma SPQR on October 1, 2026. The Turkish side combined efficient inside scoring with timely three-point shooting, pulling away in the second quarter and never allowing the Italian visitors to fully recover in front of a lively home crowd.

Match Overview

The game began as a closely fought contest, with both teams trading baskets and testing each other’s perimeter defense. Bahcesehir Koleji gradually found rhythm through their half-court offense, while BC Roma SPQR stayed within touching distance thanks to aggressive drives and second-chance points. The turning point arrived before halftime, when the hosts closed the second quarter on a significant run to build a double-digit cushion.

After the break, Bahcesehir controlled the tempo. Their ball movement forced Roma into long defensive rotations, and the home side repeatedly found open shooters or mismatches near the rim. Although Roma produced a spirited fourth-quarter push, Bahcesehir’s composure at the free-throw line and their work on the defensive glass secured the 13-point win.

Key Moments

• First quarter: Both teams traded early leads, with Roma’s guards attacking the paint and Bahcesehir answering through post touches and kick-out threes.
• Second-quarter surge: Bahcesehir’s bench provided energy, sparking a run that turned a narrow advantage into a comfortable halftime lead.
• Third-quarter control: The hosts opened the second half with a focused defensive stretch, limiting Roma to contested jump shots and converting rebounds into transition points.
• Late resilience: Roma cut the deficit in the final minutes, but Bahcesehir responded with clutch baskets and free throws to end any comeback hopes.

Tactical Breakdown

Bahcesehir’s success started on the defensive end. They protected the paint, forced Roma into mid-range attempts, and finished possessions with strong rebounding. Offensively, the Turkish club leaned on an inside-out approach: establish the post, draw help defenders, then move the ball to open shooters. That pattern produced a balanced scoring line and kept Roma from loading up on any single offensive threat.

BC Roma SPQR showed flashes of quality, especially when pushing the pace and attacking before Bahcesehir’s defense could set. However, the visitors struggled to string together stops in the middle quarters. Their defensive rebounding also became a problem, giving Bahcesehir extra possessions that proved costly in a game decided by double digits.

Standout Performances

Bahcesehir’s victory was built on collective production rather than one dominant scorer. Multiple players reached double figures, and the bench contributed important minutes on both ends. The home backcourt managed the game well, controlling tempo in the fourth quarter and making smart decisions against Roma’s pressure. Inside, Bahcesehir’s big men won the rebounding battle and finished efficiently around the rim.

For Roma, the guard play was a bright spot. Their perimeter creators repeatedly broke down the first line of defense and either scored or set up teammates. A forward also gave the Italian side a physical presence on the boards, but Roma’s effort ultimately fell short against a deeper and more balanced opponent.

Season Impact

The win gives Bahcesehir Koleji an early 1-0 record in EuroCup Basketball and a valuable plus-13 point differential that could matter in tiebreakers later in the regular season. For BC Roma SPQR, the loss is a tough start, but the road performance offered encouraging signs, particularly in their ability to compete for long stretches. Both teams will now turn their attention to the next round, with Bahcesehir looking to build momentum and Roma eager to bounce back.
