How the Game Unfolded

VEF Riga Juniors started with good pace, attacking the basket and drawing fouls early. Parnu responded with physical play inside, using their size to score second-chance points. The first half remained reasonably tight, but Riga’s guards began to find seams in Parnu’s defense as the second quarter progressed.

After halftime, Riga raised their defensive pressure. They forced Parnu into contested shots and controlled the defensive glass, limiting second-chance opportunities. Offensively, Riga’s ball movement created open corner threes and backdoor layups. A 10-0 run midway through the third quarter broke the game open.

Key Moments

The decisive stretch came in the third quarter when Riga turned a seven-point lead into a 17-point advantage. A steal-and-score from the backcourt sparked the run, and back-to-back three-pointers pushed the home crowd into the game. Parnu called timeout, but Riga maintained their defensive discipline and never allowed the visitors to cut the lead below 12 in the fourth.

Tactical Story

Riga’s depth was a major factor. Their bench contributed meaningful minutes, allowing the starters to stay fresh for the closing stretch. Defensively, they switched effectively on screens and forced Parnu into late-shot-clock situations. Parnu’s interior scoring kept them in the game early, but their perimeter shooting struggled against Riga’s closeouts.

Standout Players

VEF Riga Juniors guard Arturs Ozols led the way with 22 points and eight assists, controlling the tempo and hitting key shots in the third quarter. Forward Kristaps Berzins added 18 points and 12 rebounds, while guard Ralfs Kalnins chipped in 14 points. For KK Parnu, center Marten Saar produced 21 points and nine rebounds, with guard Erik Tamme adding 15 points.
