Tal Tech edged BK Ogre 82-78 in a tightly contested Estonia and Latvia Basketball League matchup on 21 October 2026. The Estonian hosts survived a back-and-forth fourth quarter, using a late 8-0 run and clutch free-throw shooting to secure a four-point win in front of a lively home crowd.

Match overview

The game was close throughout. Tal Tech led 23-21 after the first quarter and 41-39 at halftime, with neither side able to build a meaningful advantage. The third period followed a similar pattern, ending 63-61 in favour of the hosts. In the final quarter, BK Ogre briefly took the lead before Tal Tech responded with the decisive run.

Both teams shot the ball reasonably well, but Tal Tech’s ability to get to the free-throw line proved crucial. The hosts made 18 of 22 attempts from the charity stripe, while BK Ogre were left to rue several missed opportunities in the closing minutes. The rebound count was almost even, but Tal Tech’s late offensive boards extended possessions at the most important moment.

Key moments

With just over five minutes remaining, BK Ogre held a narrow lead and looked capable of stealing the game. Tal Tech responded with an 8-0 run, capped by a corner three-pointer and a fast-break layup. Ogre cut the deficit to two in the final minute, but Tal Tech converted four straight free throws to seal the result.

Tactical story

Tal Tech’s offense was built on quick ball movement and dribble penetration. Their guards consistently collapsed the defense before finding shooters on the perimeter or cutters at the rim. BK Ogre countered with a more methodical approach, using ball screens to create mid-range looks and occasional post mismatches. The difference came on the defensive end, where Tal Tech forced a handful of crucial turnovers in the fourth quarter.

Standout performers

• Rasmus Kukk led Tal Tech with 22 points and 6 assists, hitting several big shots in the second half.
• Karl-Erik Palm contributed 15 points and 10 rebounds, anchoring the hosts inside.
• Kristaps Ozols paced BK Ogre with 19 points, but his effort was not enough to close out the game.

What it means

The victory gives Tal Tech an important home win in the Estonia and Latvia Basketball League standings and builds momentum for the next stretch of fixtures. BK Ogre leave with a narrow defeat but will take encouragement from their competitiveness on the road. In a league where home form often shapes the playoff picture, Tal Tech’s ability to close out a tight game could prove significant.
